Heating of gear knob

Hello bimmers,Just to check,why does my gear knob heats up after a long run?Not boiling hot but it heats up slightly and this happens only when i 've stopped the car and the engine is off.During driving no heating.1990 520 Manual 18 inch 2piece

it is probably your heat insulator has worned off, or it was not properly fixed at its original place/position
if you are a DIY person, you can actually remove the plastices and probably findout if your insulator is there or its gone
