I have asked the SA this question before, BMW says to leave the embedded stones alone and don't try to straighten the fins yourself. I agree. Some enthusiast in Japan put a layer of thin mesh behind the grill but it may affect airflow. Similar to racemesh but finer.

There are some tools which can be used (I strongly discourage you to try unless you are experienced)

actually no harm straightening the fine fin on the radiator...
but must be very carefull or ur damage the the thicker fin in which the coolant area...

I think what he meant is that, try not to screw around with it unless you are very sure you know what you are doing.

There are some drivers, who knows quite little about cars and may cause damage to their car just to make the radiator look nice again :)

Play safe, these cars dont come cheap, worst come to worst, send it to a detailer and get them to fix it.
