My bimmer's ice system got some serious problem, am not sure whether its due to the wiring or the speakers or the HU. I've been to an ICE shop in Sunway to try to get the problems solved but unfortunately after twice visits the problems still there.I believe some of you guys from this forum know very well about ICE and can you please recommend me a very good and reputed ICE shop (with professional skill) to get my problems fixed? I would appreciate if any of you here can help me.Many Thanks in Advance!!!!!!!!!!

I can think of three shops that familiar with bimmers :

USJ : Quest Audio at SS15
PJ : Tehnichi Audio at PJ Highway Center
KL : KF Audio at Jln Ipoh

I got my system done by Tehnichi Audio. Simon, the proprietor is very knowledgible. Give him a try

Tehnichi all the way. I am taking out my equipment later this week to be reinstalled in another car. Simon is the way to go if you want the best for a given budget.

no harm to shop around 1st also. Simon is good, but price is a bit too "professional" too. BMW system is nothing so special about.

Everytime the topic of ICE comes up, the Tehnichi shop gets mentioned :D

Anyway, amazing how much repeat business they get. I attribute the 'x' factors being quality of sound and quality of service

Skycon, I doubt that they are really expensive if you really look into it. For a starter pack of say RM4500 (if you have no ICE in the car other than the basic HU etc.) or so you get a custom 4 channel amp, a set of front component speakers, customised subwoofer enclosure with a 10" sub PLUS a pair of his magic monoblock Blade crossovers which is where 90% of his magic lies. I bet that that basic setup can blow away many other systems running above the teens in thousands.

The best part is that they don't push equipment to you, it is always based on your budget and extracting what's best for your system. If you already have amps and speakers & etc, then it is even cheaper as it could just well be buying his x-overs etc to get the best out of your equipment. They did a few minis for less than RM5k and it was just amazing too. Forget the hearsay in the market and just pop by their shop for a chat and you would be pleasently surprised. Forumers have visited them for a chat ahd chatted hours with the man without spending a single sen...he even auditioned countless CDs and explained how car acoustics work for free.

If you look into their stuff and the quality you get from it, you will realise that it is the cheapest money can buy for the bang for your hard earned bucks. To share an experience (another forumer was there too), a VIP came with his V12 Ferrari and wanted to install the top of the range Alpine but Simon advised against it as he would be wasting his money on the set given his choice of music and recommended a mid-range player instead. Which installer wouldn;t have pushed a more expensive set for higher margins over something cheaper? I guess you could be correct about your statement, they are a bit too "professional" on pricing. Please excuse me if I misread your statement as I could have woken up on the wrong side of the bed today ;) .

WJ - skycon knows his ice ... I'm sure he meants this outfit is more expensive then the run-of-the-mill basic shop ... but I'll let him reply himself.

Anyway ... a key difference here is that this outlet really understands your needs ... if you are picky about the look and colour of your installation, they'll cater for it... it's like they won't think you nuts if you said "I don't want ANY holes drilled" ... :D

The prices of their components (e.g. a HU, etc) IS more expensive than a cash and carry place.. but of course,... these folks include in the service fee tuning your entire set with every new component you install - until you are happy with it... and yeah.. they'd ask you to come back a few weeks down the line to re-tune after the part has been 'run in' !

Budget wise - I've lived with their in-house 10" sub for a 2 years and was quite happy with it... it was cheap compared to the more expensive brands ...

I dare say you can get the similar satisfaction from outside 'run of the mill' shops but you have lesss chance of 'getting it right' to your satisfaction.

:p no lar, i got no intention to put a dent on Tehnichi, if not I would not recommend them on my 1st post. Is just there are many diff schools of teaching on ICE out there, and I always believe just like music, u always hv to keep an open mind on the diff ways of tuning technics and keep yr options open. The best practice IMHO is (if u have time lah) go visit a few famed ICE shops and personally audition some of their setup and listen to what the tuner has to say abt their setup. Also spend sometime to see the craftmanship on how they do the installation and setup. This way not only you can enjoy the music, you can learn up the way to setup your system to boost up your interest in this ICE hobby.

To me personally, Simon way of using home-brew xover is not my cup of tea as I'm a full active guy, but it work magic for many :nyehehe: I'd visited him since the day he was in jln loke yew, then subsequent at desa tun razak and now at hwy center. A nice gentlemen he is.

:D

Schone/Skycon, I am cool about it, just feeling a bit "Robin Hood" about it yesterday. I am sure you guys know "ICE" really well. To be honest, I am a real novice. Like you said, one man's meat is another's poison :) I doubt that they are expensive given the quality. Relax. ;)

Let's cry together  . Coming to Uptown this week buddy? Can buy a latte to chat about the next car we should get. To Mini or not to Mini  ?

WJ / Skycon - well said all... anyway .. I've given up worrying if it's a active, passive, digital, analog, etc etc as long as it sounds good ... it can be card board box behind ... have no time to mess around so much.. OMG.. it must be age!!!!

WJ - so what's the replacement???

Many thanks for all your valuable recommendations.

Can any of you please provide me Technichi's contacts and address? I need to speak to Simon.

Many thanks in advance!!
