Gear Transmission Light - e36

Dear to siffu and master E36 AT 1995. Plse advised and need help. My e36 gear light ( nut bergigi ) came up at panel meter. Last time i on and off and the light go off but last week that light still on everytime engine startup and at running condition. Did i have to change gear oil or service gear oil? Plse plse plse help.......

Thks bro... one more thing i forgot to said, when i clock in gear to D, normally the car move slowly but now it move and stop like i press the brake but i did not than i press pedal it move....

Sure ke... gear box.. dont make me scare on that bro... for info that thing happen 3rd raya i went to Perlis, it happen at Alor Star but i can drive back to melaka the next day and went to kl again next day and went to terengganu next day till today still can drive at maximun speed 120km but not press full down pedal lagi... i still can using now go to office and back home... any siffu and master may give another good advise.. but thks for saintdagon and jarance for your advise too... gear box ke ni....

gear box want to kaput.. go to workshop... its doesnt mean u have to change gearbox the whole unit.

Bro get it checked fast. If u have a spare car try not to drive this car for long distance until know whats the problem.

bro, i've just rebuilt my gearbox. it costs only rm3.3k. even those who went to M Scope, it's less than 6k if to include torque converter and solenoid.

Electronic Control Unit . Try reading the attached .

It's a plug & play . Any good bmw specialist can source & replace it for you .
But then again , the warning could be the real thing . Get a 2nd or 3rd opinion
to reconfirm if it's the gb or the ecu .

Dear all, regard my problem on this. i had went to workshop and diagnose use diagnose device the result show fault are ' Solenoid Valve2. Mechanic advise to do change gearbox oil and service. His said after do that than his will diagnose again to see the fault or gear light come up or not. This for yr all info. Thks.

if one of the solenoid is faulty, it is recommend to change the full set if the budget permit. i think there is 4 number. This is to avoid having the other solenoids that is in "good" later failing later. the lifespan of the solenoids is about the same and will fail very soon.

make sure that you use the right type of ATF and also change the ATF filter.

Regard to fault result on Solenoid Vavle2. I must change gearbox oil and service. Sorry to ask.. malu la... how much or estimate cost on it. Anyone knows. Thks

ATF Oil about 6l X RM70 = RM420
Solenoid = 4 X RM180 = RM520
Filter = RM200 (maybe)

Labour= ????

why need to do work for engine when got GB problem???

Breakdown price for the above work would be appreciate.

better still, get second opinion from other workshop.
