What tweibon is saying is this:-

GM5 module control the remote operation of the doors as well as the windows. The antenna is located at the window and there is a diversity amplifier which act as antenna for radio and also antenna for the remote key and also the demister for the rear windscreen.

EWS module control the starting of the car via the antenna ring located at the ignition key. It also charge the key when it plug in.
Thanks for the insight bro,

One question though, You mentioned that the antenna ring charges the battery [ VL2020 battery ] as we drive [ ori key ], what will happen if I use the china clone key that comes with a non re-chargeable battery [ CR2025 ] ? will there be adverse effect to the battery of the system as well ? Talking about the key fob ori rechargeable battery, I have seen users use a wifi charger [ mobile fon charger ] or a Philips Sonic Electric tooothbrush charger stand to charge them as well........

China clone key dont have ring pick up. So it is safe to use it.

Yes they can be use but becareful as the charging voltage might be higher than the bmw antenna ring charger.

The correct step is as follows:-

1. Sit in the car with all the doors shut and windows up with your key fobs (all your fobs need to be done at the same time)
2. With one of your keys turn the ignition on (position 1) then off and remove the key
3. Press and hold the unlock botton and then press the lock button 3 times of key A.
4. Release all buttons and the door locks will bounce up and down.
5. Repeat step 3. with the key B (within 10 seconds)-(press and hold unlock and press lock 3 times, locks will bounce)

Note: Only switch your ignition on once, doing so again while programming will reset the process and you will have to start again.
Hi Jarance,

Great !!!! Did on your procedure and both key works .... THANK YOU.....

My original key remote controller does not respond to the pressing anymore, could it be that the rechargeable battery have reached its End of Life Cycle ? Can I buy one of those VL2020 rechargeable battery to replace it ?

Thanks

Your car FOB battery is already 10 years. Chances is that the battery no longer charging. It worth a try to change it.

However, you need some tool to cut open the key in order to change the battery. A good soldering gun as well.

btw, can I ask you an off-topic question , I have some humming sound along the Longshaft [ Propshaft ] whenever I hit 80km/h , I was told its best to replace the Center Support Bearing + Guibo disc + the 2 spider coupling of the Longshaft .[ meaning sort of rebuilding the Longshaft system. Thanks

I would use silicon instead of super glue to glue back the cover. It also filled up the uneven gap when you cut open the cover.

Pertaining to your long shaft, just jack up your car. All the worn out part can be easily identify.

If one part is worn out, then change as per mechanic recommendation.

I have glued the China cloned key [ the recently made key with the CR2025 battery ] with super glue cause SG is better while silicone tends to split open the key once you turn the key in the key hole as china clone key plastic is thinner [ it only cost me rm39.00 for the key including the central locking module + transponder chip , key cutting was rm40 by a locksmith friend ] and tends to give way when glued with not so strong type of adhesive .........

The mechanic actually recommended the whole long shaft rebuilt cause he knoe someone in Sg Besi that specialist in rebuilding Longshaft , even for Porsche and some other niche market Conti cars

[it only cost me rm39.00 for the key including the central locking module + transponder chip ]. You sure is rm39 ?? Where to get such a key ??

I got AK90, long time i didnt buy this type of key due to many manufactures and we dont know which 1 is the good quality. But since it very cheap can buy to have a test.
Mine the default chip was not really good cause sometimes it work & sometimes it dun, maybe the cloning process have some fault code but the central locking module works fine & i replaced the default 2025 battery to a Energizer one cause the default one looks lousy as I need to glue the fob with glue & it will be a hassle to open it to change replace battery every few mths. I bought another chip from the local keyman but used the Lazada key fob & remote module.

Then should be no problem after using this Lazada key.
