2) Resyn key B, key B cannot work
Pls help. Thanks
You need to program the EWS to accept new key. Google for more info.digilife said:Wat year is your E46 ?
One of my E46 key also having problems which I believed was due to the fact that the battery is not charging anymore in the EWS antenna ring when in use.
I made a new key, but this is where my problem starts........
Now my keys cannot start my car, it can only be able to start when the EWS Fault code is cleared via an OBD scanner ......
Is it possible to Delete / Bypass EWS to overcome no-start problem in E46 ?
Downside to this will do away the anti-theft system .
Reason to wanna bypass is because since after making a new key, the EWS seems screw up & it need to do a "clear EWS Fault scan" via a OBD2 Scanner only can start the car.
Hi Jarance, jarance said:BTW, how did you sync both keys? One at a time or one after another.
Look at step 2), your key B is broken. Keep it as energency to open the door and start the car when you loose key A.
Can you give detail on the resyn procedure. It seem that you may have missed out a step as both key seem to work when it is resyn first.panna said:Hi Jarance,
I did it one after another.
Sorry typo error, it shud be:
1) Syn key A , key B cannot work
2) Resyn key B, key A cannot work
3) Resyn key A, key B cannot work.
Thanks
Sent my car to the "Wireman" it was solved within 60mins, reason was that the ignition switch was faulty , he managed to repair the fault. I strongly believed that some sort of relay was rectified by this guy. The EWS & new key transponder chip was programmed during the key duplication process.jarance said:You need to program the EWS to accept new key. Google for more info.
Never expect the ignition switch to be faulty. Thank for the update. cheer.digilife said:Sent my car to the "Wireman" it was solved within 60mins, reason was that the ignition switch was faulty , he managed to repair the fault. Wow, nice interface, how much you bought this scanner ? I am interested to have 1 myself so that I can do my own diagnostic .jarance said:

Did the door lock respond when you did both the keys (one after another).
The scanner is very cheap. read up on my thread for BMW Scanner 1.4.0digilife said:Wow, nice interface, how much you bought this scanner ? I am interested to have 1 myself so that I can do my own diagnostic .
Regarding the scanning, I duplicated the key at the locksmith shop and it was all fine during that time, The problem starts when I reached home, I cant restart the car at my home I need to ask the locksmith to come over to my house to see wat was wrong with it, He brought along a scanner [ I duno what scanner was that, it was in a brief-case like thingy ] with many types of cables & one of it fit my OBD2 port. He done a scan and a few faults appear, he helped me to clear most of it , Once that EWS Fault was cleared, my car was able to start , first the air-cond came on, then the dashboard indicators came to life, one turn on the key starts the engine. He then told me to look for a wireman to check the problem.
I also noticed that if I off the engine & try to restart, it also wont start, however when I step on the brake paddle & move the gear shift from P > R >N > D > P > D, it would trigger the air-cond indicator to come alive [On] , and the dashboard indicators would light up & my car will be able to start again..........
I told the Wireman all these signs & symptoms & within 60mins he called me that my car have been fixed, Damage = rm80.00.
The correct step is as follows:-panna said:Hi Jarance,
This is the procedure I did:
1) Closed the door
2) Put in the key inside the lockset
3) Turn on and off 5 times and take out
4) Press hold onto open button and press lock button 3 times
Thumbs up bro.jarance said:What tweibon is saying is this:-
GM5 module control the remote operation of the doors as well as the windows. The antenna is located at the window and there is a diversity amplifier which act as antenna for radio and also antenna for the remote key and also the demister for the rear windscreen.
EWS module control the starting of the car via the antenna ring located at the ignition key. It also charge the key when it plug in.
Lazada also selling a lot now, ranging RM50-70 you can get lot of choices :jarance said:The scanner is very cheap. read up on my thread for BMW Scanner 1.4.0

try Aliexpress or places in China to purchase. They are much cheaper now compare to the time when I first bought it.
