Hello dear forum members,This is my first time posting and would like to have everyone's advice on the following: I just purchased a second hand 320d with 65,000kms with the M Sport package and now a proud owner. However, being a paranoid owner, I would like to give the car a serious youth treatment. For looks, I have already booked a car spa treatment at G Guard for a double coat polish and wax and full steam cleaning. As for mechanics, I'm planning on doing the following:-full change of brakes (pads, rotors, sensors)-new tires all around-oil change, engine and transmission flush-spark plugs, filters, etc...Is this recommended? The car does not have any particular issue but I want to start with a clean slate. Should I do a FULL check np and do it at Auto Bavaria? How much would the above cost if done at dealer vs specialist? Thanks!!

congrats on ya purchase and first thing you got to do is ..

Join the diesel guys for a cup of tea ... to get the smoke downloaded .... hence will make you know what to do and how deep you got to go ...

PM some of the ppl around ... DOCRarayboy ...

Paging DocRayboy... Carlsson.... Pang..... Andrew.... Jwah
All can properly advice you as well as if you are prepared Poison you for more power :p

Well firstly, you don't need to change spark plugs since it is a 320d :)

Was the car maintained by BMW or was it a recon unit? I am guessing that it should be a local unit. You can check within iDrive on the vehicle status and check if the brake pads were recently changed or how much thread is left. Under vehicle information, it would show how many more KM till your car can travel before changing the brake pads. For me in my case, the pads looked really worn out although the meter in my car shows it had 4000km left and by the time there is 2000km left, the service light goes off. I don't think you need to change your rotors till 100,000km but it depends on the previous owner and how he drives it. I would recommend however if you were changing all of those items to also change the brake hose to a steel braided one (assuming that you are also changing your brake fluid).

Vector chip it.......call Derek aka by his nick torquetuner up, official club vendor of Vector HP 012 211 8381. He will give you a free trial. I am on maximum setting 7 of Vector now and its such a rush! No problems at all!

Thanks all! And yes, stupid of me to mention spark plugs on a 320d :stupid:

DOCRayboy and all, I was planning on getting the BMW performance kit for RM7k at auto-Bavaria for the extra power to be on the safer side.
Out of curiosity, would you know the difference in cost between doing a full and massive service of the car (engine, brakes, tires, etc...) between a BMW centre and a private specialist?

Any legit specialist you recommend not too/excessively far from Ampang Hilir area?

Thanks guys!
And will PM the oil burner heads for a drink soon ;-)

Some of our guys with the BMW Performance Kit felt no difference with the car's performance after the 7k ringgit upgrade. Hence, the Vector which sells for 1k+ may probably be all you need. I can't quote price differences between BMW service centres and outside service centres-no experience doing so.

I do know these are very good people to go for tyres b and a, tyres purchase and general BMW workshop:

MPS Sunway-for balancing and alignment-Kar Fai (boss Man Ji's son)-HP 010 210 8883-can whats app him also. Speaks English v well.
Quicksave Subang Jaya-for tyres purchase-best prices around-boss is Leon 012 202 0817 on whatsapp also- I am getting Champiron tyres tomorrow there-MR350 front tyre, MR550 rears. Very good affordable sports performance tyre! http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/GT-Radial/Champiro-HPY.htm
M1 Segambut- tel 0362576817 for service and repairs-Senior forummer and OM Jarance bro's favourite workshop.

Cheers!

Dont forget to take your car for "rempit" session after the basic service and safety maintenance. LOL!

Doc, do give us your reviews of the tyres. I will need a replacement soon

A tire review would indeed be nice.
Here's what I have so far planned for the 320d over the next 3 weeks:
-Full inspection of vehicle and: engine and transmission flush, change all filters, brake pads and rotors all around and tires all around (still looking for a decently priced alternative, the price of those tires are just plain scary!)
-G Guard car spa: hybrid wash, interior steam clean, 4 layers polishing, 2 layers coating, window glass coating, headlamp coating, wheels coating to restore the shine to the beauty. The whole package goes for RM2,699

And down the road the BMW Performance Kit. Not going to chip anything outside of the BMW channel. Want to keep it legit and not fudge with the mapping of the ECU.

After that, and a wallet reaching dangerously low levels, I think I should be set with a sparking clean and dusted up beauty!

Anything else I missed fellas?

Best of all, drive your car and enjoy the ride :D If you are not used to a RWD car, best to get used to it especially on wet roads. The torque monster can be quite tricky to handle sometimes :D

Can also always change out of non-RFT tyres if you feel the current RFT tyres are worned out, it is alot more comfier :D

Dear Bro sirimusa,

Congratulation on yr purchase. I believe yours is 177hp as it the 2009 model. If it is , then I dont think the BMW performance kit is offered here for 177hp car.

To your question on changing transmission fluid, I am not sure. My car is slightly 100k km over and I also need to know whethr to change tranny oil. Hope some bros can help give the answer.

Sirimusa, welcome to the oil burners circle!

As mentioned by supersonic, the power kit is made available for the 184bhp cars, so may not be an option for you. If anything, you should prioritise maintenance and anything safety related, so that means going for the best tyres you are willing to pay for.

I've been pretty tied up with work and have not had the chance to catch up with the oil burner gang...any TT/TCSS session for the oil burners coming up?

Sounds like a plan, I've not been joining for the past few months either :)
