Hello,

Shudn't it be "Italy won 5-3 on penalty shoot-outs AFTER extra time" ? Err, so how much money did YOU lose on this match, dude ?

Even though I aint a big fan of Argentina, but they were the best team in tournament and would have beaten Germany had not Coach Pekerman made some tactical errors in his substitution.

Italy was lucky to scrap through round 2 with a dubious penalty against Australia, and in the final, France was marginally better than them especially in the second half and during extra time where they had chances to score whilst the Italians were waiting for Penalty kicks.

Surprise package of the tournament has to be the Germans with their entertaining and attacking game, kudos to Klinsmann and as a football fan I hope he will remain as their coach at least for Euro 2008.

Disappointing teams...Brazil and England!! Teams that deservde to go through Round 1 but din make it, Ghana and Ivory Coast!! These African teams could have been a threat to any European teams in the near future!

It was a tough game... but France were the better side from the 2nd half onwards... It appeared as though Italy were aiming for the penalty shoot-out even though statistically, they've never fared well in shoot-outs! Hahahaha....
But it was just their night yesterday... It was written in the stars that Italy will win every 12 years so i guess, the night belonged to them... Congrats to the new World Champions: The Azzurri's

All hail the Azzurri! It was a match pitting the 2 captains against each other, Zidane pulling the moves for France and Cannavaro showing the world how to defend as a defender. The fella was everywhere! Save for a penalty and an own goal, Italy have not had an opposition player score against them in open play.

While Zidane literally shot his side's chances of winning it, Cannavaro went around his job all 120 minutes with the coolness and class you'd expect of the best defender in the world. And like a few World Cups of the past, a total unknown has been the one of the stars in their march towards the trophy, Fabio Grosso. Oh please give the Golden Ball to Canavaro!

Yeah...France should have won, France should have been given another penalty. Zizou's header shouldnt have hit the bar as well as using his head "in the wrong way"...Barthez should have retired earlier......actually Im quite glad its all over now......(its been a long 1 month).....we can get on with our normal lives........and business!

It is a fact he is a volatile player. at France '98 he was red carded as well for stomping a Saudi Arabia player (if im not mistaken) and he missed the quater and semi finals i think.

you have just summarised the entire tournament in few paras. yes, Italy won the world cup - whether they deserve it difficult to say especially after watching their matches against the US and Australia. i can't remember of previous world champs that were magnificent in every single match. one thing for sure, the most entertaining team is argentina whilst the african teams gave us so much of excitement, even togo and angola. france should be proud going home as runner-up.
