Feedback: Volvo S80

I guess some of you might have experience with this model. Care to share whats your opinion. One of my family members is eyeing this model year 2001. From unreliable sources, the car seems to be problematic and with hi-maintenance.

I used to drive a S40, 2.4 before changing to an E90......tested the S80.......not bad but for the amount of cash.......I still prefer a Bimmer.......Maint. Cost is also very steep. I over heard a conversation at FA between some Mech and one is saying that the Volvo and Audis have the two top spots for high Maint in Malaysia........

im not a fan of volvo, when my dad has a volvo, he always have hard time on finding volvo parts. yes volvo has great cars but somes are too pricey.

Well..specifically for the S80 models, it's best to stay away from the 2.9cc. Apparently this is the trouble causer. The rest 2.0 & 2.5 is less problematic. So was said by a reputable Volvo mech.
