Hi guys, I've just moved in to KL & got myself a 2001 E39. However, the alarm has been going off for no reason once in a while & this is a nuisance to me & neighbours @ night. Sometimes it can go off several times within few minutes & sometimes no issue. I've gone through the user handbook several times & couldn't find the fault even by switching off the motion detector. Can someone please point me to any good service workshop in town who have experience with this model? I'll also need regular maintenance. Thanks.Jon

Check your hood switch.

Hi Champion, may I know where is the hood switch?

You mean the front bonnet or rear boot or? I've tried arming the key twice but it doesn't seem to disable the motion detector/tilt sensor. The bonnet, boot, sunroof & doors are always shut.

I might just disconnect the battery during nights!

Meanwhile, if anyone knows of a good workshop for E39s in KL/PJ area, please recommend them. Thanks!

Front bonnet. If you are standing in front of your bonnet, its located near the right abs mounting. Bonnet might be shut, but switch malfunction.

I also tried fiddling with the remote to switch off the motion sensor, but to no avail. Sorry cant help you out on this.
