Guys,
I am upgrading my standard pre-LCI F10 520D steering wheel to a sports version. Too used to the sports version all these years. Cannot tahan!!!
However, I have a problem as I do not have the sports airbag. I have been doing a lot of research on the Net and I am getting more and more confused. The part number for the sports airbag does not seem to sync with the ones sold on ebay.uk. Original from the bmw dealerships have crazy prices. I am wondering if it is cheaper in Singapore. Shipping is also another headache as it is labeled as an explosive device, as such, delivery is via sea/land.
Question:
Can I use an airbag specified as a sports airbag with a different part number but with similar specs? Is the wiring harness similar? Also, I found that there are single and dual stage airbags. Which is which and embarrassingly, I don't know which one I have on the 520D.
Appreciate any feedback or experience from anyone who has gone down this path. If anyone has any sources on where to find the airbag locally affordably, a million thanks.
