E39 Multi Function Airbag

I'm fitting a Multi Function Steering airbag into my non MFS wheel. Now, my mechanic said I would need to get a different slip ring in order to retro fit the wiring connecting from steering to car. If I don't, it'll be impossible turning the steering wheel as it would affect the wires. Can anyone verify this?Or perhaps any leads to obtain the needed slip ring?Thanks....
