Finally bitten the bullet and went for a 528 /M-sport. Got a call today that the car is delivering tomorrow. :rock:Holding my breath...

Congrats.... Feel good?

It felt great! Been toying around with the new gadgets. It's definitely more refined than my e60 but not as much wow factor as it would be the case if it comes with the i4 engine... The engine feel is just all too familiar...

Congratulations starwing!!! May I ask, is this the new 528 n20 4 pot engine, or the old 528 n52 inline 6 engine? Either way, GREAT CHOICE and may you have many many memorable (and safe) miles ahead!

Thx buddy. Fortunately/Unfortunately it's a 6-potter. I don't think the 4-potter engine is out yet. Thought of waiting for the 4-potter but there's just no end in sight. Do you know if the n20 engine is out?

Hi starwing. Well, the trusty N52 is a total workhorse, and you'll have many miles of smiles for sure! Over here in Singapore, the authorized dealer Performance Motors Limited (PML) have just phased out the 523 (the old 2.5L inline 6) and they didn't introduce the N52 into the F10 range.

In fact, my sales executive was in somewhat of a panic mode last Sunday, when we popped over to sign the papers for my F13 - they had just launched the F13 6 series coupe on Friday the 21st of October, and on Sunday, the 23rd of October, PML dropped the bomb on everyone and launched both the 520 & 528 with the new N20 4-banger AT ONCE.

So, you can imagine - eager F13 buyers (like myself) who were there at the 21st Oct launch descending on PML's flagship showroom to firm up their orders placed during the launch mixing with equally enthusiatic upgraders & potential buyers alike. I can tell you, it was like a war zone! Apparently, the rumor was that one of the test cars (a 528) had to be hauled back to the workshop after developing some problem - dunno whether it was due to over abuse or not!? Hahaha.

Given that rather inauspicious start, I'm very happy for you that you opted for the N52 powered version - and frankly, with the N52 housing a total of 258 beating stallions and churning out a top twist of 310Nm, you'll be hard pressed to find fault with the car! Congrats bro - it's a great buy!

I have the same feeling when I opt for the N52 engine - that this is a safer choice. Only thing I didn't know was how close is the launch date of the n20 engine. Pls do share your experience with the 528 with N20 engine if you have ever tried it. I'm sure there's a bunch of eager buyer waiting for the first review.

Hi starwing,

Haha. I'm sure my Sales Exec would oblige me with a drive around the block in an N20-powered F10. I still have to meet up with her a fortnight from now to sort out the payment details - tried to bid for a number plate, should know of the outcome in 2 weeks, so depending on whether she's like crazy mad with potential customers or not that day, I might just go and disturb her for a test of the N20 and report back to you guys after that :). But this can and must only be a test drive report - I reckon my wifey dearest would divorce me if she thought I was in the market for a 3rd car (which I am NOT)!!

Bro,
One thing I wouldn't do is to make any "no-buy" commitment prior to the test drive. As history has proven such commitment has many times turned out to be futile.

All the best bro!

Just done a quick googling on N20. Found following interesting fact:

Here's the engine of the normally aspirated I-6 engine:

Here's the N20 I-4 engine in the new 528:

See the big gap space saved from the reduction of two cylinders?

The engine does look small, doesn't it?

The straight six engine looks better. Interesting the 2 bar now located in front of the engine instead near to firewall

hmmmm, i never take the effort to see what's under the bonnet. Will check, hopefully no snake or cobweb all over.
