Does anyone know if it would be possible to swap a 320i E36 engine in E46 318i 1.9L ?. It is possible? Thanks for any help.

because my e46 is a left handed,
E46 halfcut very very hard to find and very expensive compare to E36

penQuattross.....

You can swap 320i to a 325i or 328i engine....is more fun.....hehez...

cheerz......

penta qutrosos

you didnt specify why you wanna change to an older engine
even if your car is LHD, doesnt mean the e36 has arts for a RHD e46

think its best to find a e46 318i RHd halfcut, if that is your plan

also, there is the issue of gearbox, longshaft, ecu wiring form LHD to RHD, steering rack of the e46/e36 may not be compatible, but i maybe wrong

tejay,

actually i wanna sell this car April next year ( got Student AP). i wanna convert this LHD machine to RHD in any way which is cheapest.

i ask some mechanics for the conversion , everything remain the same, just dashboard and needed parts, they want about 12-15k.

i think, E36 325i/320i halfcut plus swap charge i can get arond 10k - 15k. for that i got Vanos.

i just heard from one BMW specialist, someone bought e46 325i for 35k, if t get this halfcut, i got Vanos and airbag and etc, but hard to find and also very epensive.

all beamerz pls advise.......

I think its best you get an e46 half cut to do 1) engine conversion and 2) left to right hand drive.

E36 325i is using a Bocsh management system whilst the newer e46 uses Siemens. The integration of the dashboard+car wiring (the electronics like airbag, power window and what else not) maybe a problem.
