Hi sifu-sifu out there,I got one problem with my car E46 318i m-sport,while I driving my car the engine suddenly off and the automatic transmission and dynamic stability control indicator warning lamp come out.After a while I try start the engine again and is ok but after driving about 100m to 200m engine off again and same indicator come out again,I sent my car to workshop but the pomen also no idea what is the problem.Can you guys help me on this.FYI,I already check and change gear box oil and service my car but the same problem happen again.Best Regards,TAX6037

Not forgetting camshaft position sensor, i hv changed both this year,camshft followed by crank sensor....

Thanks to all sifus...problem resolve already,after diagnosed comp showing crankshaft sensor problem.After change the sensor and test drive,everthing back tnce again Thank alot guys for your help.

hi guys,very sad to telling you all but have to,after I change all sensor (five of them) like what you all say,my engine still suddenly stop.After change all sensor just can drive for one week and after that the same problem happen again.After I digno my car everthing showing normal no problem at all but engine still suddently stop while I driving.Right now mechanic still working on it try to find out what is the problem.I already pening kepale because of this,change five sensor already cost me RM2700 and I don't know how much I need to spent more.Any one have any idea what else can couse this problem happen again?hopefully your experince can help me to fix this problem.thanks.

Bro I'm on E46 318i 2002 too, recently had the same problem and change three sensors costing RM700. This happen before raya and throughout raya was driving the car fine. Why so expensive? Get the car diagnosed again, is the mechanic well-versed in BMW?

Already diagnosed bro but everthing like normal,that thing make me pening.I change all new 5 sensors maybe thing cost more expensive.About the mechanic,what I know he can repair the BMW alot of BMW cars at he workshop,maybe he naver had problem like this i think...right now he still find out what is the problem with car...

Eh how come the same prob occur almost the same time..kena jugak ni..pagi ni masa nk pegi keja..the thing is before it happen battery indicator light up first..then gear indicator and the middle warning indicator lights up..the car still can start then after few minutes it stopped again..yet to diagnose..

Bro have u got a symptom like battery indicator light up/blinking and followed by a sudden drop of rpm like the engine died and suddenly start again?i'm having that symptom while driving..is it camshaft sensor issue?can anybody advice?

I just changed the new one crankshaft sensor today,the other day using the 2nd one maybe not good also I think.hopefully no more problem after this lah,will test drive by this evening and will telling you how the result.

I thought you spend RM2700 to change all 5 new sensors???

Not for all new sensors just 3 the new one and the other 2 sensors is 2nd.

The sensors I changed for sure camshaft and crankshaft but 3 more I can't remember,The bill inside my car.

So,after changed the new one crankshaft sensor today and test drive everthing normal,no engine mati lagi but after driving about 30 km

The battery warning light come out 2 time just like blinking and then car like jerk,happen 3 times the way back to workshop

but engine not shut down.So from you all experience what could be the possibility problem like that?is there battery or alternator problem?

the battery light comes on because the rpm is low or the car is just about to stall.

check the battery connection to see whether it is tighten properly first.

if i am not mistaken, the sensor are cam, crank, knock, valve timing for a N42 engine

Check the throttle housing assembly...very common for these models to breakdown & give these symptoms.
