engine oil vanishing!!!

I just bought an e46 318i 2.0 new facelift a month ago. Had so many problems after driving for a week. Well my local mechaninc got things done for me. Now i have notice engine oil going below ... just above the min. I had to top up every 4 day to the max level. My mechanic says my piston rings is gone as there is no leaks from the engine ......... sigh..............sigh.........sigh

piston rings ?
do a compression test!
Compression test will tell if it is really your piston ring problem.
