Electronic steering wheel control faulty...

Dear all, Had a problem recently with my steering, it automatically moves upward and keep moving until the maximum height. Short circuit somewhere i suppose. Like to ask if any of you out there had encounter such problem before ? If yes what is the solution? Replace the entire system ? It is a cbu from AB ,1996 528i. Thank you. Regards

Do a test to see if you can replicate the problem:

1. get in car and set up like you're getting ready to go somewhere
2. turn on engine, radio, and headlights
3. reach over and pull down the passenger sunvisor and open the mirror cover so that the make-up lights come on

If the steering wheel, seats, or other weird electrical stuff happens...the problem is your ignition switch

Thanks a lot Moots. Will try it out. Will definitely have to replace something. The electronic control steering is very useful imho....love it esp with memory.
