Hello recently I experienced transmission alarm warning (gear symbol red in color) it only happened in the morning after several on off engine the warning symbol disappeared. Went to see various mechanics and suggest to change gear fluid and others suggest to change the gear box. Please advise. Thanks

Secondly, please introduce yourself in the newbie section as otherwise it is like a stranger coming into your house without greeting the host.
To enable us to advise you, do provide us with more info of your car i.e. which series of e90 (320i, 323i, 325i, 330i, 335i) & mileage done.
Mechanics who suggested to replace your gearbox are out to make a fast buck from you. Replacing of AFT fluid and filter is a reasonable approach failing which you should send your car to a reliable auto gear workshop.
