Apparently it's covered if recommended to be changed by the Service Advisor. In their records - ATF is meant to be changed only at 80,000km only therefore they never recommend it to be changed unless instructed by the owner at a cost. So thats already above the BSRI range.

Thanks Jonz. In fact I asked 2 SA, both told me different range. one said 50K KM, another told me 30K-60K .....

Changed it at AB few weeks back. It cost about RM 750-RM 850.

Oh really ? One of the workshop in cheras asking about Rm1200. May I know where did

you change it?My car is Japan spec so

I don't think AB will accept my car.

Sorry for the slight off topic....

Does anyone know whether the E90 auto tranny is the same or improvement over the e60 auto tranny ? Oh, the bad memories of that tranny still vivid on my mind....worrying about gearbox failure.

The reason I'm asking is that my e90 tranny sometimes has "lumpy" gearshifts.... not exactly smooth but not as bad as my prev E60. Time to change gearbox oil I presume.... but if I remember correctly, it was never totally seamless gearshifts, even from new.

I know the E60 525i is using ZF 6HP19, same as pre-LCI E90, but shift programs varies.

LCI are all using GM boxes.. GA6L45R, using Dextron6 ATF.

any idea the lci E90 320d 184hp uses which gear box ar ? thanks..

I checked realoem, 320d LCi YOM 2011 is using GA6HP19Z. Also checked the F13 640i gearbox (in line six N55 Twin Power turbo with quoted torque figure of 450Nm) is using the GA8HP45Z, the same gear box for F10 520d. So this 8speed gear box can comfortably take on 450Nm. May be due to some mechatronic interface, so the power kit (380Nm increase to 420Nm) cannot be installed.

.. ZF boxes can take in huge range of torque, the E92 335i is using the same transmission as my E90 320i, even at stage 3 mods, the transmission can still take it. The 335i have a bigger torque converter, that' all. And the beauty of ZF boxes is all components are individually sold and replaceable. For GM boxes, usually owner replace the entire transmission. :4:

Hi AB,

My ATF was replaced when I got my ride and the service reminder sticker there states 20k mileage only. But I thought ATF normally can last longer...Need advise man..

Mmhhh, if I understand correctly - ZF boxes will be easier on the pocket should it go "BUST". Is that correct?

Where did they stick that reminder sticker at? I didn't get that when I replaced mine.
