Does anyone know whether the E90 auto tranny is the same or improvement over the e60 auto tranny ? Oh, the bad memories of that tranny still vivid on my mind....worrying about gearbox failure.
The reason I'm asking is that my e90 tranny sometimes has "lumpy" gearshifts.... not exactly smooth but not as bad as my prev E60. Time to change gearbox oil I presume.... but if I remember correctly, it was never totally seamless gearshifts, even from new.

morrogan;725333 said:I checked realoem, 320d LCi YOM 2011 is using GA6HP19Z. Also checked the F13 640i gearbox (in line six N55 Twin Power turbo with quoted torque figure of 450Nm) is using the GA8HP45Z, the same gear box for F10 520d. So this 8speed gear box can comfortably take on 450Nm. May be due to some mechatronic interface, so the power kit (380Nm increase to 420Nm) cannot be installed.

The 335i have a bigger torque converter, that' all. And the beauty of ZF boxes is all components are individually sold and replaceable. For GM boxes, usually owner replace the entire transmission. :4:
