Aiyo........my eye sight not so good at night leh. I afraid that I'll be spinning instead of the car!:p

Bro,
how about cleaning out the throttle body? some dirt built up can upset the sensor, causing the throttle not to close properly during idle.... just a thought!

Don't ask me how to do that. Old school way just spray throttle cleaner...

That's what my independent BMW Specialist suggested & has been conveyed to SA of IA. But he suggested that let car consumed 2 more tankful of V-Power then see the problem persists!

It might work actually. Don't underestimate the additives in V Power. Well, let us know how it goes. You joining the Breast Awareness event on Nov. 7? ... Ooopps.. sorry, Breast Cancer Awareness...

Bad boy........yes, the MINI boys & gals will be there!:top:

I bought this 2006 325i a month ago and found this vibration issue in idling. Went to 3 dealers so far. The first one said it is normal. I did not believe it and did not trust them. The second one said there is nothing they can do except pumping up RPM. I said no if no real reason found. The third one, today showed me another 2 2006 325i behaving the same way. It got me believe that it is the nature of 2006 325i. That is all I can say now because that is all I have seen so far. The foreman told me also that many 5 series having the same problem. The way they to fix it is to increase the RPM a little. He also said that is the solution based on what they got from working with factory engineers.

That's pretty strange. How is it that some cars don't experience this?

A leak in vacuum system could also contribute the vibration during idling, that's what I've experienced with E46 N42. After changing all three vacuum hoses, finally found the brake servo leaked. Not sure how it works with N52 engine but worth the check I suppose. Idling vibration problem solved (after changing vacuum hoses, oil separator & brake servo)

Yeah, that is what I witnessed. I will test drive other 2006 325 later in dealers. Also, I hope people are really sure when they say they do not have vibration problem. Maybe it is a good idea for other people to test drive them too just to get more reference.

If it is really not the character of the engine, then there could be million things possible. What you just mentioned are very valuable for sure. One question I have is that how many factors the on board computer can really catch. The dealers always say that faulty parts or behaviors will register to computer. If computer does not indicate anything wrong, then no much wrong. It is puzzle now.

Perhaps its the DME adaptation value being the culprit again.. have u recently change driving style? change fuel type of different RON content? Change aftermarket air filter? Put bigger rims? Replace batteries?

It happen to my 2006 325i also and it only happens when the engine cools down a little. When its really hot it doesn't vibrate. I thought it was normal when my Mechanic tested the car after changing my absorbers. He said might have to change the spark plugs. So since plugs have something to do with engine, better send to Ingress.

At Ingress they said plugs not due yet and its cost 1k to change all 6. Why waste money when they are not due. Confuse.... i had to take action in my own hands and went to Bavarian Auto to ask about the plugs. Cost RM28 each for Bosch Platinum, so bought all of them and went to Mechanic to change the plugs, Cost RM35 for labour. He even resetted the OBC reading for plugs.

When he removed the plugs, i got a shock as they were all burn at the head and also around the white area. Now my ride doesn't vibrate anymore and it is lighter on the pedal.

Maybe you can try this as its only a small investment for R&D. The KM reading on my OBC is 72k.

I bought the car a month ago. I dont know what the previous owner driving style. But it probably sit there for a while before dealer sold it to me. And it only has 14k miles on it. Hard to imagine spark plugs. Considering another two 2006 325i the foreman shown me, it is very confusing.

I guess the issue is caused by manufacture inconsistency (part and assembly). Some cars are lucky enough to get everything right. But not so for many others. There is a post in E90Post mentioned that the issue is triggered by a very small misfiring that is so small that there is no fault code registered, i.e. computer still believes it is normal and does not know exactly which cylinder is having misfiring.

So, i guess we have to live it for now. However, for a real fix, each one of us have to contact dealer and complain it to BMW to get their attention. There has to be enough complains accumulated to get BMW taking actions. So far, they just sitting on their ass smile at us.
