Came across two E9´s here a few weeks back. I have previously only seen one here in Malaysia and that was the one for sale at Kayu Ara. Then i came across two with only days in between. I saw a Polaris colored first (didn´t have a charged camera with me then). And then this one:

Another E9 in da house...

Went over today looking for the Polaris E9 that i saw a couple of weeks ago. It was gone. A good sign when you know how the vultures work on "lonely" cars. I have never seen the red one posted by Malaycooper,

The red one mentioned in another thread was a different car for sale near Kayu Ara. That was for sale at 70K. But engine was a japanese thing so i had no interest. It had the potential to be a stunning car, but i walked away when it wasn´t a BMW M30 engine in it.

Malaycooper will you tell us where "your" red E9 is? Would be nice to see.

Looks like the photo was taken outside Sanjay Nair's Heritage Garage...

The Kampung Kayu Ara car should still be there. They have moved it to the back of the shop though. Wasn't aware that it had a Japanese engine. Thought it had potential too as it was bodily sound. Wonder when and where the conversion was done as it sports a Munich Legends windscreen sticker, so it must be a fairly recent import, and I doubt that Munich Legends would perform such a conversion.

I've seen one e9 with a Perak '1' registration number. If I remember correctly, it was Polaris silver too. That car was rotten! Guess QC at Karmann wasn't quite up to mark in the '70s...

Not seen the red one too...Whereabouts is it?

Cheers...

The late Sultan Idris Shah of Perak had an E9 plate AAA1 before. When the E24 came out he bought the E12-based sometime in 1978/79 plate AAX1. Then when the E-28 based 635CSi came out in 82/83 he bought another one with full Alpina treatment (minus the Turbo) and transfered the AAA1 to the E24 and sold the E9.

The AAA1 E24 is still running in Ipoh belonging to his Son Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain (the current son-in-law of the YDP Agong). Its white now with BBS 18" wheels.

PS: Im from Ipoh by the way :)

Very interesting discovery,... cool :)

and not to mention both are 5-speed manual 3.5L :) The AAX1 you have Vincent is an overdrive 5spd but the AAA1 has getrag close ratio dogleg :)

My apologize. I went back to Kayu Ara, and sure enough the red E9 was still sitting there. The car has NO japanese engine in it, but a M30. Not original engine I was told last time. Assumed it to japanese. My mistake.

Car is no longer for sale though.
