Might worth for sharing, about a month I had this problem 'high rate of battery discharge' every morning when I start the engine. Already changed new cable, new battery, new alternator - still same problem.. just yesterday we found there was tracker system (installed by previous owner) and the tracker backup battery was draining the battery out! So, this morning no more message in iDrive, and crank is faster than before. Hopefully, that was the culprit.

Hi Kazuya,

I had a problem as always shown the "High rate of battery discharge" on my car. I changed the battery about a month ago (not original BMW) and also had registered the battery. Now I found that you said there were a "Tracker system" that created this issue.

I'm not sure about mine, could you please advice me where to check or find out the tracker system? Should we remove it or how to deal with it?

Thank you

It was hidden inside the trunk carpet at the battery side. The best way probably to trace each wire from battery terminal or fuse compartment there. That's how we found.

Change it fast! The dead tracker battery = failed TCU for me. Cost a bit to change the TCU. I left the 'high rate' message going for a couple of months until one day the radio started acting up.

Tracker batteries aren't modern li-ion ones, they're the older type ones with a lifespan of about 2 years.

They are 3 small boxes and one of them is the battery with wires all over.

Hi sifuu...where u change ur battery?....my car now cannot start...maybe because of battery..pls advice...tq bro

Guys ..

I got 2 questions .

1) When should we change the battery for E60 ? Wait for the indication ' screen pop- up ' ? i think so
2) Where exactly we can find this type of batteries - i mean not at BMW . Any shop name for selling OEM type ?
3) Post battery installation - where do we re-proggrame it? do we need to bring it to BMW service centre of can do it ourself?

TQVM in advance

I just changed mine at MSpeed for RM680 (Delkor DIN90). Symptoms: iDrive was blinking on-off, then aircon started powering down, then auto cruise not working. Classic signs of under voltage. Was still on original battery about 7 years already! So OK la, time to change.

Then found out IBS cable faulty. Changed that (~RM1,000). Then found alternator conk! Another RM1K+..... Oh well, the upside is that I had good peace of mind driving back to hometown for CNY :)

Oh ya, Ah Meng said no need to reprogram. So far I have not had any issues yet, so I hope he's right!

Registering battery

hi guys

do anyone know really if its really the power module that we need to reset to the E60 when you
change to a new battery? ( by the meaning of registering your battery)
cause i got a new battery and i also have the GT1 unit .
i did browse around the software using the DIS v57...
but still not sure.
or is it in the SSS ?

Help anyone ?

You need to go to the authorized BM workshop to do the reset. It will be better do go thru system diagnose to check whether the voltage for each component in your car is at optimal.

Hey cafee,

How much it cost you with installation fees? My friend sell it to me 630myr without install! Reasonable?
