Guys,

Really pissed off with AB. You know what their reply. Okie just send back we will reset the programs. They told me they dont know the reason, they will try to reset. By the way my driver seat is really irritating from the day I get my car the car seat keep on giving me funny sound, I had complains more then 100 times it seem that they will not bother. I really regret getting this model. The service is TERIBLE.
Is the sound from your seats sound like plastic creaking esp when you take corners and go over bumps? I had that on my seat too and when I send it in they managed to fix it. Mine was plastic panel rubbing against each other, a terrible design fault. My sound came from the plastic panel of the seat switches. When I move it, it is the same creaking sound.

What I did is that I printed out the whole list of my complaints with detail description of the problem and gave it to the AB service advisor and going through it one by one with him. When I collect my car, I will go through each of the comlain again and ask him what exactly did they do to fix it to make sure they don't miss something. You should try that to reduce your headache with them. Like you I can't trust them 100% to fix all the problems. At best is to reduce the chances of them missing something out.

John has just reminded me of another possible source of the seat issue. If it's some rubbing noise, it could also be from your seat buckle rubbing against the side of your seat.

Apply some leather lotion at where the seat cushion side facing the buckle. This will get rid of this rubbing noise (at least for a while).

Dear all,

Anyone had this encounter. Mine only 2 months old 525 E60 and 2k km, suddently I-drive hang and the whole screen black out and can not control everything. Please advise
as long as the car is still running and can be driven, I will not worry too much. Ii guess this is the price human pay for adding too much electronics into a car. so it's just a minor inconvenience, just reset the damn computer and wait for BMW to sort out the bugs.

really bring to mind the old chinese saying "one more urn one more ghost"

John,

it's a CBU 530d.

There is a difference between Made in Germany BMWs and those made elsewhere- just check out the South African and American made BMWs, what more those made in Malaysia!

Of course BMW will insist that the quality is the same, that's why you're paying BMW prices for a car with 40% (not too sure about the exact percentage- but it's gone up since AFTA went into effect) local content, no? If not, you'd be clamouring for lower prices!

My mom's 5, my dad's 7 and my 3 have never had any problems... and they're all CBU... hmmm... is that luck or proof that CKD quality sucks?

Unfortunately, the issues I see here are reported in UK, US, Singapore, Sweden, Belgium, Germany etc.

In that regards, I don't think it's simply a CBU or CKD matter.

Why don't you all write straight to BMW. You can email them. Thats what I did and fortunately got the respond from them.

All your problems makes me feel that my decision to cancel the plan to upgrade to E60 seems likel a good decision.

I heard of an incident where an E60 got stuck. Engine simply cannot start and the bonnet cannot be open. He have to call the mechanic to come and check on the car. Don't know what happened but the guy was really angry because he was at the golf course to play golf and his club stuck in the bonnet.

Not only that, my radio signal too goes on and off way too often. I had complain about that before but they were not able to fix it.

AB will never be able to fix this problem, unless they replace the whole radio mechanism. The radio frequency scanner works in accordance with German radio channel transmission , and not Malaysian. Hence, the pause we encounter is when the scanner kicks in. So, don't hold your breath too long hoping to resolve this.

Cheers
