Dear all,Anyone had this encounter. Mine only 2 months old 525 E60 and 2k km, suddently I-drive hang and the whole screen black out and can not control everything. Please advise

Step on brakes, hold the door handle and crank the key to reboot. :p

Seems like you got electronic bugs...effected a couple of E60 from SG too....maybe its time to call your agent and F him/her upside down.

Common problem (yet again!). If it doesn't recover by itself after turning off, your only hope is the workshop.

Looks like you gotta send it back to AB.... the same happened to my co's car.

I over-heard about this pwobwem on a new E60 when I visited Auto Bavaria Sg. Besi a year ago. To see this still happening is distressing!

It might still be fine if your car is under warranty, but what after warranty and the I-drive keeps hanging? :( Me still no trust cars which rely too much on electronics.

Forgot to mention, my co's E60 keeps having to go back to AB off and on just to reset the CD changer. Seems the CD changer hangs quite often and only AB can reset the damn thing.
I would have asked for a permanent fix; obviously the reset is not the solution.

Now that you mention about the CD changer hanging, yes it has happened to mine a few times already! I will send it back to AB and ask them to do something about it.
While you are at AB, perhaps you can ask them why the CD changer keeps hanging. Perhaps the CD changer should be turned off before taking out the key? You know, something like shutting down your computer properly before pulling out the plug? :dunno:

Guys,

Really pissed off with AB. You know what their reply. Okie just send back we will reset the programs. They told me they dont know the reason, they will try to reset. By the way my driver seat is really irritating from the day I get my car the car seat keep on giving me funny sound, I had complains more then 100 times it seem that they will not bother. I really regret getting this model. The service is TERIBLE.

Sorry to hear your sorrow. They make the service advisors of my distributor sound like saints!

The black out of the idrive is not new.

The seat: is it every time you brake or accelerate, you get a knocking like sound? If yes, most likely it's the seat rail. I had that. My workshop did something temporarily until the part comes in. So far so good. Again, this is a very very well known problem.

All these problems have been fixed by workshops in different parts of the world. They should not claim they don't know the reason.

Just curious; your e60s, are they CKD or CBU?

I've been driving my mom's year old e60 530d for a couple of weeks, and have not encountered, nor heard of any complaints from her.

women are not very susceptible to little glitches like seat noise..my mum couldn't hear her front suspension squeeking on her e46 & it was the control arms that went...

Long Live E39...!!!

an insider friend told me that the newer 5sili is still pwobwematic....just like the E46 with the power windows and the front lower arms pwobwems... :(

Fuh,

I've been driving the car enthusiastically and hard for the last couple of weeks, and I haven't heard anything...

Is it CBU or CKD? BMW Malaysia has recently doggedly maintained that as long as there's a BMW badge, it has the same level of quality as if it's made in Germany though admitting the assembling process in Malaysia is more labour or manual intensive (as opposed to robotic). Personally, I think CKD still sucks! (in terms of E46). Hence, Mercedes' move towards SKD is a good step forwards.
