E60 2004 - transmission fault! (appear at I Drive)

Dear friends,While otw back to JB on 9/5/2010, cruise speed 140 to 180kmh, suddenly feel like gear is changing from top to lower gear, and back to top gear few times.After that the message TRANSMISSION FAULT appear at I drive and i can feel my car in neutral gear position.After slowing down (below 10kmh),transmission back to normal.Need some advise before kena ketuk lagi (JB workshop tak macam KL)....tq

Could it be the DTC problem since the DTC light appears? So probably not your auto transmission but the DTC.

There might be a computer glitch. Get it diagnose... DTC is Dynamic Traction Control so it should be just a computer glitch

I used to get transmission fault (after long high speed) but without DTC warning. Once, sent for diagnose - something like delay in gear error, could not remember exactly and left the workshop after doing the reset. The next day high temp warning, went back to workshop and found small leak in radiator. Changed most part of the cooling system - and until today so far no more transmission warning. So I guess the warning in my case something to do with cooling system??

bro ...seems like the gear box got problem...got change gear oil ah?? i encounter this problem too after change gear oil ( not expansive ) and tested with my foreman no problem..

I've got the same problem. Did the gear oil changed and reprogramming tapi x jalan.
Finally, got gearbox changed. 2nd hand gearbox cost me 12k. So far so good.

i was told that this could be caused by faulty valve body / mechatronics. cost to change - rm8500. brand new... ( heard that "rebuilt" ones r going for a bout rm4000...)
am1868: u changed the gearbox + valve body or only the gearbox? so it's like, a rebuilt gearbox? where (which shop) did u change at?

i think this problem are gear slip no change gear.i suggest u to complete overhaul gearbox because after overhaul like brand new.....i thk te cost chipper than buy used part..... Tel:016-2030665
