Bro & Sis, wanna ask comment / opinions.

Recently i'm looking for a manual transmission E46.
And then i saw this at carlist :-http://www.carlist.my/used-cars/1316521/bmw-318i-sport-manual.html

Is this car a good buy? Is there any common problem/fault with this car that i should look out?
What workshop that i can request the car dealer to send the car to for diagnosis? At least if i buy, i can roughly know how much $ i need to spend to refurbish/repair it so i can continue driving for a few more years to come.

Or can recommend a better manual transmission model? If i buy those normal Auto spec, how much would it cost to modify it to manual? Is is reliable to do so?

Hi negisf.. why want to get manual when auto is much easier :D .. btw here is some tricks which u can try

1) when driving/testing the car, make sure to go over bumpy roads i.e over the bumps or some minor port holes to see if the car shakes alot. this is to check for absober bushings etc.
2) get a magnet to check the car body. If there is a body filler, magnet wont stick.
3) for manual gearbox, try to play with the gear stick to see whether it is loose. Sometimes excessive wear and tear due to number of years that is used.

here is a video for your viewing on how

the best is to get any bmw specialist workshop to have a look also..
best of luck bro

I alrd have a daily driven auto car. Reason looking for manual is wanna get back the excitement of driving a manual & switching gear/cluthes.
This E46 will be a weekend car, ie a fun car.

Point 1 i'm not too concern, those suspension bush/mounting won't be too hassle to replace & won't be costly.
Point 2, what is body filler? Meaning the car accident before & kena mudguard?
Point 3 - Noted. Will definitely play with that

Thanks for the advice.

yeah bro .. body filler is the mudguard.

Anyways do get a professional mechanic to view the car with u. bring his diagnostic tools as well. easy to see any fault also.
Basically manual gearbox is much easier to maintain then auto gearbox.

Im thinking of getting a manual gearbox for my e46 also.. if money permits. hehhehehe... thinking of getting e90 for daily drive and make the e46 kereta weekends

Guys. Any recommended workshop in PJ area? I've view the car & the dealer is alright with me sending the car to a workshop for diagnosis
