tq for the link.. ive post there as well.. how to diffrentiate ZF and GM gbox bro jarance?? thank u..

jack the car up and see the labelling on the gearbox. you can see it stick on the gb. e46 usually use zf.

hey,what model is ur e46?

my friend he just recontition his gearbox with all new parts, only cost 5k to 6k.....still running good now, warranty 1 year......go to check special list....dont worry....won be 25k lah, auto bavaria is vampire ...

Mileage is only 10k+ and you have issues with gearbox?

I am assuming your car warranty has expired. If so, please get a second opinion from other independent workshops using a computer diagnostic check.....

chetz,

rebuilding the entire GB with new parts will cost you around 5-6k and i personally feel it's pretty damn good. forget about replacing a brand new GB unless money is not a concern. diagnostic done at specialist can not always be trusted as they too are human and can make wrong judgment. they might end up trial and error to replace a few parts n charge for labour before getting to the problem. i'd say that's money not worth spending. again, dependent on what's quoted to change whatever the mechanic suggested.

as for mileage i'm guessing it's 100k + and not 10k+ ?

Whatever u do bro, never go for 2nd hand or re-cond gear box. Send to gearbox specialist and refurbish it is a better choice. Your gearbox will be as good as new and with warranty. For your problem, maybe you just need to change certain parts which does not cost much. Try M-Scope, I have no complaints with their work.

Chetz,

1st,U may go for diagnose either electronic or mechanical faulty.
2nd,yr decision either U want to rebuilt or replace with 2nd hand, both cost U about RM5-6k only.
My advice,if many parts of GBx faulty,go for 2nd hand with warranty.

TQ.

thats whut my dads foreman said.. if rebuilt the gbox.. at least i can have a new set inside.. clutchplate.. solenoid.. and the sensors.. like u said.. if buying a recond gbox we donno how good the stuff inside.. might end up facing the same prob again...

yupe millage clocked at 10+k.. not 1+k...
