e46 engine 100% cool but water temperature gauge shows MAX without red warning light!

Fellow bimmers,Yesterday evening, when I started my car engine, d water temperature gauge suddenly shows to d MAX but so hairannya my car engine was 100% cooled (coz' parked since morning).The red light on the gauge dissappear after the engine start but the needle still shown to d max..I decided not to drive it and wait until this morning to see whether the problem still there..Bad....it still there....but my car engine is 200% cool....Need you guys help!

Maybe you should get the car checked. Seems like some sort of sensors are out..

Yup...checked by my mech...its the sensor faulty...happened to his previous customer...

Same prob after replace with new thermostat...

Hye, I experience the same problem with the temp gauge and I just replace new thermostat. At the begining, the temp back to normal but the mech inform the gauge sometime raise to max n back to normal. However, after a few hrs, the temp gauge go to bengong again. Really need advice either it is cause due to thermo sensor failure or else. Thank you very much.

Bro, its your thermo sensor failure......i got mine fixed....no problem now
