Hello Folks,

Went to reset allignment and camber for my E46 Jap Spec M-Sport 320i (2.2cc) recently.

I was told that my front right camber is set maximum. cant be adjusted anymore.
went to a few shops, all gave same feedback.
Its too obvious the front right wheel tilting inside.
Screen shows camber setting as below;

Sifu Jarance shed some lights. He suggested to "jack" to re-adjust the camber & to be careful as the wheel bearing will be damaged.
Unfortunately, he cant recall where he got this done..

See below pic..

Can any of the experienced guys here suggest me a workshop with this tool to reset my camber?
Kinda urgent as this issue is wearing my tyre off faster den i expected...
Please help..

just to share some info on this.

the tyre shop reported the same to me i.e. camber is off and needed to jack the arms to change it.
co-incidentally, the mounts on mine also did not have the pins.

due to the damaged mounts (not related to the missing pins), I have had them changed, to those that came with the pins.
This resolved the camber issue I had.

MPS Auto (Sunway) was the last to do my setting due to tyre change, the camber settings shown as being within tolerances on the computer.

Hope some of this info helps.

Bro ghostrider, thanks for your input..i tot ony the pins were missing on my mounts..now seems the mounts i hv are indeed without pins..hmm
basically, it sounds like the pin on da mount is very crucial for camber settings huh..are da mounts bmw genuine part or after market bro? Also, wer did u get the mounts with pins replaced?

Hello folks..

Sorry been missing for quite sometime due to business requirement.
Anyway, here are the latest updates;

I came across this link http://m3.madrussian.net/diy_camber.shtml and decided to do the opposite of the instruction to get the factory position.

My old setup;

After resetting back to factory position;

Went to set Kin Allignment (Sunway) hoping dat camber can be re-adjusted but it didnt work.
Kin said the only way is to "jack" to re-adjust the camber (as what Sifu Jarance suggested before http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/newforums/index.php?/topic/37577-fed-up-of-broken-lower-arm-bushes/page-2 refer post #23)
Kin had the tool, Told him to go ahead and do it.

Basically, what Kin did was pushing the absorber away from the knuckle using the tool and insert a metal piece in between to create more gap to allow camber re-adjustment. Switched right tyre to left and left to right..this is because, the right tyre slightly worn out on the inside.
Finally, camber re-adjusted.
New camber reading :
-0.5 (right)
-1.0 (left)

Despite the fact that the wheels are standing straight now, i could feel vibration on the steering at high speed (above 100kmh) and worse when applying brakes while on the way back. Brought it back to Kin the next day, he did on wheel balancing and said my rims are dented thus gives the vibration.
But i'm not quite happy with what he said.
My car was on the same set of wheels even before he did anything, and no vibration..

Any idea what is the next solution available?

Pardon me asking. If absorber kaput and start dropping, would that result in negative camber situation? If yes, then the correct thing to do is replace absorber. Now if you change absorber, your car will suffer positive camber. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Astroboy, good point u've raised there bro..i think i'd agree with you..dat could potentially result in negative camber..if u see thread #4 by bro Ghostrider, he had damaged mounting and the replacement helped him with the camber settings..
but in my case, i think my absorbers & mountings are still ok...
anyway, guess i need to get a 2nd opinion to confirm these items' condition..thanks for your opinion bro..
if kaput, worse come to worse, change to adjustable la...hahahahaha..
