Sifus,My beloved E46 325 (approx 69K on the clock) is ill with the aircon blowing warm air thru the driver side vents (centre and right side). AB says that i need to fix the cooling coils, condenser, valves etc - all key components located within the dashboard. The dashboard, steering have to be removed. The work is 3-4 days long and costs up to RM4900. Wondering whether this is common and are there good alternative aircon specialists workshops out there that can get this done faster (dont care that much if it costs that much) with excellent quality (i.e. no side -effects - dashboard rattles, etc). :(

hello...
Just a newbie opinion... Same thing happen to my car. Went to aircond shop. They say that have to check everything, they r afraid of 'bocor'... somewhere... Have to open the dashboard and stuff...

Well try my luck, just asked them to put in the air cond gas and nothing else... Well its works :D Now my air cond is even colder then before..:)

Just a thought... :)

yup, what said is true....

sometimes, when vents are blowing not cold air...maybe it's time to refill!

btw, doc...congrats on ur recent "naik pangkat!" :D

Naidu did tell me that the first thing to do when the aircon is blowing hot air on one side only is to top up the aircon gas. If that fails to solve the problem, the next thing to do is to change the heater valve which Naidu can source from the chop shops at below RM200 (brand new is about RM400 plus). The heater valve is in the engine compartment, so no dismantling of the dashboard is necessary.

Hmmm...i think I its time for me to refill my aircon too I think :dunno:

:)

Our bro Wglee knows what he's talking about...

I'm having the same problem. Initially, I thought it was just the weather but Alvin sat in the back seat of my car and complained like a girl. I also noticed he walked out of the car a little shorter as if the sauna overheated. I'm sending in for gas top-up first. I notice everyone with this problem are E46 owners, again!

Wait till i tell you about my recent aircon story, JPB....
