Hi everybody. Is there any thing i have to takke care if i wish to convert my engine from 2500cc to 2000cc?i have asked that a guys offer me a halfcut complete with long shaft, asking for 13k, is this price reasonable?

Hi Jerry, Are you wish to convert from 325 - 318? or 318 to 325? I'm also looking for 325 engine to convert my 318. it's 13k for complete halfcut for 325 or 318?

pls make sure you have all the wirings intact and never ever take a shortcut route which most of the workshops would love to do ....

why not just sell your car and get a 325 bro? less trouble/headache and about the same cost. Your car will have higher resell value too

E46 2.2 half cut without bodyparts but the rest of stuffs all included for 10k

Hi Jerry, from the thread title seems like you want to convert to 325 engine, but from your post seems like you want to downgrade to 2.0cc. :).

Ya, I go to a workshop which nearby Sony factory at BU, he is a BMW specialist, he advised that it's better I sell and get a 325i if I insist wanna upgrade, cause most of the Halfcut did not complete with wiring, but it seems stupid to pay for 15k for repairing cost for my 318i engine which is totaled and still get the same thing...but well, they are pro and I have to listen althrought I eagle to having a more powerful car... Well, final decision is repair it and drive for 1 year, after that looking for e60 is more wise and valuable.
Anyway, thanks for all your valuable opinion.

RM15k!!??? bro seriously!? only engine or inclusive of gearbox? i think its extremely high for a 4-cylinder engine.

Half cut N42 engine is between Rm4k to Rm5k and with labour and seals, oil etc will set you back another Rm2k or so. I just rebuilt my N42 engine which cost Rm9k++. Rm15k sounds a bit too high...I prefer rebuild since you get a practically new engine and warranty for any leaks. Half cut engine you will not know the history of the engine
