Hi guys,I need your expert advise. I wanted to change from e36 to e46 and been search around for a good deal.Budget is below 90K. I've found one which I think maybe a good deal, but what say you? details as follows....E46 318i (1.9),Manufacturing 2000 / register 2004I think it's euro spec, because the meter is in both miles & km,only one owner ..(I've seen the copy grant),engine is std, metallic silver, mileage is 60K (could this be true????)white signal lamp, stock condition, std 15" rim, 4 airbags, gray color leather seat with arm rest, 3 spoke MFS steering with auto cruise control,EC button on the signal, can change the display to time, fc, temp etc.silver color dashboard & door lining,i think its not a tiptronic gear, ...anyway, how to know??original player with CD changer,...no other accessories..only 2 things I'm a bit concern....the vynil arm rest color and paint is faded and peeling off respectively, but according to the tauke, this can be repaint, secondly is when engine turned on, there is like a 'turbine kind of sound' and it went off after ~ 1 min....the price tag is................RM 82K.so, pls comment. thanks

how come my post suddenly is only 1 ??...but i joined this forum for sometime and posted hundreds of posts....emmmm:stupid:

Easiest way to confirm the manufacturing date is go to www.realoem.com and type in the last 7 digits of the chassis #. It'll tell you when it was manufactured and where it came from.

There's a (+) (-) sign on the gearshift to denote a tiptronic function.

Interiors can be repainted/refurbished. Airbags shd be 6 of them. 2 from the front windscreen (A pillar), 2 front doors and steering & dashboard above the glove compartment.

Mileage : Can be tampered easily. If it has MILES, it's EURO specs. Local CKD dont have them.

Best is get to a specialist for a visual inspection & GT1 diagnose b4 committing to a buy. Standby a couple of grand for wear & tear parts coz it's almost a 9yr old ride.

Turbine / jet harrier sound - Normal, it's common on CBU unit when cold start. Somehow mine dissapeared after awhile after waking up the neighbours for couple of mths whn I just got my ride.

Fair price quoted. Shd nego few more grands down since it's a buyers mkt now!

Good luck.

Reason price but need to see the car before can comment. Look out for sign of oil stain at the bottom area.

What engine? M43?? or M54

bro NKTOB, thanks.
there is a (+) (-) sign on the D gear indicator, so this car have tiptronic function....but sorry for my ignorance, what's different compared with normal auto gear as my e36?

you, u are right, i just remember there is another 2 on A pillar...so 6 airbags.

when you say almost 9 years, does it mean it has been on the road since 2000?....because i thought, manufacturing date can be earlier, but it will only hit the malaysia road only after been register......correct me if i'm wrong.

its actually called a steptronic.... try the car first.... use the D, SD as well as the Manual gears....
take it to a workshop for inspection...

overall a good car i would say....

hi bro,

congratulation on your e46. maybe u could ask a mechanic to take a look at the car and get his opinion

If the car import from recond car dealer .. the meter some are genuine some modified..
If you really conern the engine real mileage .. just send to AB to confirm, i think the only place can answer you this.. of coz.. sure changes needed ...

for my experience , most important is the overal condition.. if the seller they have a good service but the mileage is 100K above , why not .. of cause most important is the engine side, other acc you can get anywhere bmw workshop ..
Mostly bmw owner have two either or three or more car .. if the car year made 2000 mileage is less then 40K i dont feel supprise ..

p/s: because one of my uncle own a big fish Merc-S420 .. yr2006 till today most to 10 years above .. meter more less 150K.. only .. crazy ..

Anyway, you have a good bargain offer... Congrat be a Ultimate Driving Machine Owner ..

Happy Brosing,

Rgds,
-Just my opinion-

dont wate ur time by goin to AB.....rip off MF's........any other workshop oso can diagnose....... save money.......

" AS MENTION ABOVE " all just my personal opinion ..

Of cause decision still up to buyer, sure will waste some time to proceed this & some hangky pangky ...

For me to buy my love baby, i dont think is a waste ...

Anyway just a discusion .

cheers,

-end-
