Dear all, decided to have preventive maintenance done on my aircond. Went to Naidu's to vacuum out oil and gas (he has the machine now), change dryer (mine as not been changed since 2002) and refill oil and gas.

My aicond now is much more cooler and quitter.

Was told that the dryer acts like a filter to trap dirt and does need to be replaced every 60,000km - 80,000km.

Wanted to replace the compressor oil as well but he said need to open and will take more time. Most people don't replace compressor oil but it is good practice to do so.

I also read from other threads in this forum that some have disconnected the heater valve switch so the aircond is cold all the time. Asked Naidu about it and he said can be done, no problem but then the aircond is always maximum cold. In rainy days it might be freezing and have to switch off, then becomes stuffy, and often on and off of the aircond switch may spoil the switch.

Anyway, dear sifus, my question is, can the compressor oil can be vacuumed out and refilled without actually taking out the compressor, to save time and $$$?

Kindest regards.

Bro... If he use the vacuum machine... the machine will auto input the new compressor oil during the process. As the foreman need to put new 1 botle of lube oil to replace the old suckup oil...

Bro Uno, the vacuum machine is only to vacuum the oil and gas in the piping system but not the compressor itself (2 separate systems as I understand). Compressor oil for compressor is separate to the oil and gas in the piping system? Have you done before, can please share bro? Thanks very much bro.

How much cost you incurred to service the air cond as I plan to do mine too. I ve asked one air cond shop at Jln Tuanku Abd Rahman (behind Kudu nasi kandar), they want RM400 ++ total service inc open dash board.... what's yours?

For mine, it's as follows:
1) vacuum out oil and gas and refill oil - RM120
2) dryer - RM160
3) refill gas - RM60

Total RM340, no need to remove dashboard

Apologies Sifus, any place where can vacuum out oil from compressor and refill?

Can you pls update what the end results for "disconnected the heater valve switch" or plugging the heater pipes/ disconnect them. Is the results good. Any disadvantage such as lost temp control etc ... should it be done... hope to get some feedback.thanks

My aircond is making funny sounds right now, but so far it is still cold enough. Another thing that i found weird is that when i plug in my bmw scanner, it gives "HVAC motor faulty" error message. I suppose if the motor is faulty, my aircond wont work?

People usually bypass the heater valve due to the heater core leaking. Takes huge amount of work to replace it. No other disadvantages other than losing the temp control and aircond blasting maximum cold air all the time.

If you disconnect the heater valve switch, it will always open the hot water to the cooling coil. The heater valve is energised to close the hot water from the engine.

most people bypass the heater pipe to the cooling coil heater. It will make the aircon slightly colder as the heater do not get hot.

If make funny sound, it means that the compressor is about to kaput. maybe another 6 months usage.
If the compressor fail, better to get a new one rather than recon type. I have 2 recon compressor fitted and both
fail with 2 months usage. Finally change to new compressor at Naidu.

Thanks! Will keep that in mind when it fails (i hope nvr). Haha.. Actually, have been running with that funny sounds (and that hvac faulty error) quite some times alrdy. Maybe so far still lucky.

Anyway, what brand do you change to, Bosch?

All CKD compressor are Denso lar.. Only the cooling coil is Behr.

Haha.. Ok.. I have changed the coil early of the year, next is the compressor, probably it s time. It has served well for 10 yrs.

Anyway, how much does it cost you back then for the new compressor?

About a month ago, my aircond started to give problem. During idle it was hot, when cruising, cold. Went to SSG. Changed control valve, problem settled.

Hi Bro Jakpo, how much for that control valve? Is your aircond getting hot during idle after park under the sun or what? thank you.

Ejat shafiq,
RM650 semua sekali.
Yes, hot during idle. If it is moving fast, can feel a bit of cold air.
