Good Day Gentleman.Me a newbie here and didn't even own a car. But me is very interested for buying a E46 2 doors. If anyone knows someone who wanted to let go his/her car, please let me know. But first of all, me have a few question here. If it seems stupid, pardon me because me don't have any experience in this field. 1. Can anyone tell me about the roadtax and insurance for this car depend on it displacement? eg : 320, 323, 325.2. how about the maintenance? me mean about the regular maintenance for interval kilometer such as changing oil for engine and gb, filters or else. and besides what's stated, any other things that should be changed?3. how about the cost of the interval maintenance? and where me can go for servicing my car? Auto bavaria or just a regular mechanic?4. if me have major problem like gearbox breakdown, engine breakdown, what will be the estimate cost?5. for any minor problems, drive shaft, brakes pad, alignments, air cond, what will be the estimated cost and can me go to regular mechanic?6. what is the main problem if using this car?Me already heard from my friends that the cost for maintaining bmw is higher between honda and toyota but because me like bmw e46 2 doors too too much, me just want to know the estimate cost compared to civic/accord/skyline ( japan's car ). me just need the clarification from those who owned this machine. please, me really need a guide here. if my question is too stupid please forgive me. =)

** the insurance depends on the year of made of your car, roadtax wise eg: RM398 for 320i & below rm2k for 323 & 325.
2. how about the maintenance? me mean about the regular maintenance for interval kilometer such as changing oil for engine and gb, filters or else. and besides what's stated, any other things that should be changed?
**maintanance wise when comes to servicing has to be on time with AA++ grade oils, mostly fully syn or semi syn. the ATF oil is most crucial.
3. how about the cost of the interval maintenance? and where me can go for servicing my car? Auto bavaria or just a regular mechanic?
**go outside BMW specialist wshops are much more cheaper.
4. if me have major problem like gearbox breakdown, engine breakdown, what will be the estimate cost?
**depends what time of parts needs to be replaced, but since u are looking for a e46 should be cheaper than e90 or f30
5. for any minor problems, drive shaft, brakes pad, alignments, air cond, what will be the estimated cost and can me go to regular mechanic?
**just prepare bout rm5k to change tear & wear parts when u found your e46.

**makes your wallet thinner everytime u visit a workshop. haha

Read on, there's no easy way to explain prices other than read these maintenance experiences.
And get some BMW friends, that will save you a lot from getting slaughtered all the time. When you do get one, post regularly and ask questions here, there will be many that are willing to help.
One last note: Banyak Masuk Workshop saying is not without a base.

If you do well on your regular interval maintenance, i would say there will not be any main problem occur. Unless the life span on those ware & tear parts need to be replace.
