E39 vs S60

Bros,I dont know which one to go for.. price roughly the same.. for 98/99 E39 vs 01/02 S60...Can anyone help to compare from the below aspects?1. Fuel Consumption2. Maintenance3. PowerThanks in advance..

I did some test & survey for E39 530i & Volvo S60 T5.

I love the Volvo because of POWER (260hp, compared to E39 530i 231hp using RON98, local RON97 would give about 5 horses less?)
Safety, no doubt the safest car.
Alright and that's it.

E39 530i
Engine ROAR! M54B30 once best 3.0L engine in the world.
FR driving experience. S60 T5 is a big horsepower FF, lots of torque steer. It won't handle as good as E39 on the highway. My Sonata NF 2.4 with 160+hp is already torque steering on the highway corner, I know S60 is way better car than a Sonata NF but it's still a FF.
Sheer Driving Pleasure, what can I say more.
And I personally love the angel eyes on the E39. Coupled with XENON lights, night driving on the highway, all the cars would automatic clear the path on the fast lane

Only thing the S60 T5 has got going for it is the excellent 5cyl turbo engine..all else,the 530i wins by a wide margin.

Go test both and u'll see what I mean.

Since you did not specify which exact models? Are you comparing E39 523i vs S60 2.0T?
General answer..........
1. Depending how heavy is your right foot, you should be able to get an average 7-8km per litre. Fuel consumption should be about the same
2. Volvo service & maintenance is at least 20-30% higher
3. Power - Volvo S60 2.0T wins due to the low pressure turbo (LPT). The T5 is awesome. Many chipped their ECU to push higher power output by another 20%
BMW wins in both ride & handling!
