e39: unable to open door from outside

hello sifus. rear door on driver side cannot be opened from outside. only works from inside. what seems to be the problem? anything that requires replacement? many thanks.

Child lock works the other way round ... Can open from outside but cannot open frm inside :4: ....

It is the internal cable inside the lock mechanism. It has elongated. Solution is to change the internal part from chop shop. Cost could not remember. Not that expensive.

Yup it's true like dato said. Earlier I was still able to open the door from outside then it gradully worsens and in the end got stuck.

Last time i can open outside, but can not open from inside, culprit is item #11 putus, got it DIY to replce.

Last time i changed item 23 as per bmw7833 attached. It came together with the cable. No one wants to sell the cable only. So that's why had to buy a set. It is best if you can find only item 18.

It happened to me last week..Opened the door card and found the cable hook is a little bit loose, as told by the mech..No part changed and i paid him rm10 for the quick fix.

Thanks all for the response. Guess I just open the door card first and see what had happened on the inside. Will update the outcomes.

lol not yet done la bro. at home busy with kids & stuffs. guess i can live with that for now.

guess what now the door cannot open from outside or inside. before it could open from the inside. guess nobody else to blame but me. dunno what was i thinking i activated the child lock and closed the door. waaa!

any tips how to open door or to deactivate the child lock with closed door?
