Hi y'all,my first query here... some background story first. Bought my e39 late last year. all practically original AB serviced throughout. shoes shod with Yokohamas ES100. Nice tread pattern:) . sadly, found the rear two significantly worn more than the front two. Even tho they looked like all 4 were fitted at the same time. so i was puzzled:confused: .1. Is this normal for beemers esp. E39, i.e. rear tyres wear so much faster (because of the rear drive factor)?2. What wud u do? Replace the rear two first? or Replace all 4? rotate front to back first to extend life? (The User Manual discourage rotation tho!)3. Any recommendations? Some recommended Continental (locally made now, and all I can find are the ComfortConti... the tread not sexy like the Yokos, I tot), others say TOYO (?) and I actually liked the idea as it was quoted the same as the Conti yet made in Japang + sexy :D looking tread! Thanks in advance...:)

- I believe so ...

- On budget , why not ......

3. Any recommendations?

- Soft - Sticky
- Hard - Last long

Choose one ....

With a E39 and of you dont drive fast, a long lasting and comfort tyres like Goodyear Eagle or Yokohama will be best value for your $$$.

If you drive like 007 with your E39 then TOYO will be wonderful. But you might need to change a new pair of tyres in 20 months time.

1. Yes, rear tyres wear out faster due to rear wheel drive
2. For economics' $$$ reasons, rotate the tyres
3. Grip are more important than looks............and of course, all depends on $$$ in your wallet!

Hi geoffreylee,
But you might need to change a new pair of tyres in 20 months time.

You mean I can actually expect to get 20 mths from my tyres? I mean, seriously, I'd be happy with that, really.... The Goodyears I fitted to my MPV lasted only 1 year! (after 35000 km)

Anyway, I've settled with the TOYOs (all 4) at RM445 each (same price as the Contis). Had the alignment done same time, and so far it is running smoothly.

I do hope it'll last the 20mths... (or 50000kms thereabouts at my rate of ~2k per mth). BTW, my driving style is many times removed from Mr Bond's... most of the time anyways!:)

Happy driving everybody...
