Hi guys, would just like to seek some input from the members. Got my 2012 f10 528 msports in july, found out that the passenger seat rattles over uneven roads, it is very obvious and the rattling sound can be reproduced when the car is stationary by tapping on the seat rest, like it is loosely fitted (and no its not the sound of the seat belt hitting against the pillars). I've so far sent the car in for like 6 times to no avail. I have been kind and patient in getting this fixed but now that i have lost my patience i demanded and official response. Today the dealer emailed me saying the seat rattling is confirmed and expected for 528 msport because and i quote "vibration is typically transferred via(NVH)Noise Vibration Harshness from the road and wheel. Its more prominent with the low profile tyres and with active damping control suspension", to which i shoot back then explain the rattling when the car is STATIONARY. They have acknowledge the issue and fail to make known of this anomaly to its buyers prior to purchase. So for anyone that are considering the msport, please clarify with your dealers on this. Just wondering if they are acting upon instructions from bmw as i wanted to claim warranty for the entire seat. On top of that my driver side window also rattles which they have not fixed until today and asked me to come in again for the umpteenth time. Wasting more of my time and leave, especially when i am already busy with a newborn, uuurghSo far regretting every moment of my first bmw, my old merc gave me no problems whatsoever. Sigh

Eager to hear feedback from other 528i M sport owner....this seems to be the first case...or others just keep it to themselves....but, why only M Sport ya?....hope the rest can share.....

Surely this is not a good start for you. If true, I am sensing a manufacturing defect.

I drive an F10 520d and noticed this as well..what i found out was the buckle of the seat belt was rattling against the door/panel..problem solved after moving the buckle away..had a loaner 520d and noticed it as well, just be sure the passanger seat buckle is away from knocking any surface..mine is non Msport though..but i was irritated the first few weeks driving my car before resolving the issue..

My 528i m-sport has a vibration inside the dashboard compartment when I accelerate.

I do not have the seat vibration issue on my msport but the "vibration" felt seems to come from the door side panels (aluminium panels) during rapid acceleration. The sound is like when you depress the side door panels which emits a "creaking" sound .
Not sure whether it's due to the SC removed my dashboard during the installation of the reverse camera..

Sorry to hear of your problem. I drive the same car and on mine the passenger seat does rattle a bit when going over the more uneven or bumpy roads; but nothing while the car is stationary. Other than that no other rattles or annoying sounds from anywhere.

Perhaps your seat is not mounted properly? I don't buy the explanation they gave you via email. Anyway, I plan to ask them to check my seat mounting during my 1st service.

well they have dismantle and replace screws many times over but no difference. thats why i told them to stop wasting my time and replace the entire thing instead. tap the seats and it will rattle, so it is extremely noticeable and annoying when driving, given the insulation of the F10 and condition of our roads.

anyway i have written to bmw and they have issued me a formal apology and assurance that ingress will get it fixed. so crossing my fingers by sending my car in yet again. the joys of driving to the service centre

my car has this rattle sound on pasengger seat too when moving unoccupied. kinda annoying but bearable

you sir are a more patient man than i am lol... anyway they say the seat frame is defective and awaiting parts from germany, wasted another 3 days in service without courtesy car... hope it solves the issue once and for all

My 2008 E66 730Li also has this issue. and some other strange noise here and there too. have learnt to live with it. else blood pressue sure shot up if we expect a perfect BMW which hardly come by.

Wow. . I m surprised about this. Even my 21year old seven series rattle too. Must be the ultimate joy of having a vibrator on it. No joke, I tried to settle it but can't.

For your problem, it should be a loose plastic seat clip that is either loose or broken. Need to disamble it.

Same here...but Bearable previously...but now cannot tahan anymore:burnout:

There is a rattle and vibration sound coming from the rear of my wife car as well. Brought it to Ingress (where I purchased the car) a few month back. They do some diagnosis and found that the rattles come from the 3rd brake light bracket. They change it and the rattles is no more there.

Perhaps you could try that. Before that I am dead sure it was the seat but it seems the bracket (3rd brake light) is the culprit.
