E39 Power Window

BMW Power Window in general are they reliable? This is the 2nd time it has happened to my power window on the driver's side. When the window goes down there is no sound and goes down smoothly. But when it comes back up there is a loud crack or thud when it is fully closed. Is this a known issue?

Many of us e36 also experienced the same problem. As discussed in the old forum, it is very likely due to some plastic bracket at the motor of the power window. Dunno how to describe it really, but maybe you want to PM Jaran for a more comprehensive step-by-step instructions (hehehehehe), seriously

Just went to Autobavaria Sg Besi for check up yesterday and it is exactly you described the plastic bracket at the motor. Apparently this is not a common occurence on the E39. Damm. I am just unlucky.

E36 don't have plastic glide. Only the E46 have it.. Most of the time is cause by sticky part... used silicon grease spray..

Now that you mentioned it my window just did the same thing! Winding down was smooth. Then as it goes up it cracks and vibrates violently and ended with a hard thud. Pretty scarry. I noticed this only happens when the windows are wet or the just after the car is being washed.Some guys say its normal jsut like the Wira ...only BMW ones last longer. In my case 8 years! Its the same plastic glide bracket. ANyone knows how to remove the door panels without blowing the airbag so I could do some DIY? :huh:

Where's the best place to repair this prob? I have this power window prob front & rear right window!!!!
