e39 meter display & key replacement.

Hi guys, my e39 meter display is deterioting (led display). All the wording start missing when prolong use & start missing word by word. I found out a specialist who repair bmw meter & quoted me $1200.00 & warranty for 1 week. What do you guys think??? Should i go for it / get a new meter cost $3k+ (very expensive lah)....One more question, i wanna replace my car key, workshop charge my $1k+ to replace a key with alarm control. Is that the actual cost / any alternative where i can get a cheaper 1???TKH FOR YOU GUYS ADVICE.

i was quoted rm4k plus for a new meter and the replacement key abt rm1k.

i m not so sure abt repairing the display. i will only do that if the guy is a reputable. i dun know how long it will take to repair, say if u need to leave the car there for 1 or 2 days, ,mean no car for 1 or 2 days plus if the think kaput after a while,tha will be anoher rm1200.

i had replacement my key before,what i know is the key need to go Auto Bavaria n bring alone the car registration card for verify.
the key got coding one.
Prices RM 8xx.00

if i may suggest,i not try looking 4it at chop chop shop around,coz if ur lucky u might get a good1,yeap, AB gets ur key done but only do coding 4 CKDs,sick right.

Tkh 4 all d advice, oh yeah to repair the meter they need max 1 day,but i only worry how long the meter will last & kaput again. I found their contact at motor trader magazines.

Regarding the key, u mean they only do for ckd cars only?? What about cbu???
I guess cbu got to do outside....

I use to service my car at Obermaier & they told the key cost me about $1k, didn't ask they do or a/b do???? Will ask next time.

Regarding xenon lights, heard that those cheap 1 would cause lots of problem to your car electronic & caught fire too, is it real ah?????

Try giving the following numbers a call. I was told, the guy will remove your existing meter and replace a temporary one for you until the repair is done. It cost between RM 500-800
