are you referring to the Denison Ice-link, yoke? I've seen it done on youtube.

No, mine is DICE Ipod integration, looked at Denison as an option before, but found DICE which is cheaper (not sure on what's the difference betwseen the two). DICE work fine for me, and their DIY assistance through posted over youtube is easier and covers a lot more BMW model (old and new).

Now to upgrade my ICE, anyone wants to exchange their 5 1/2 inch with my 6 1/2 inch CDT Eurosport. The speaker must also be about the same range (for example Focal Utopia, Dynaudio etc) as Eurosport is the top of its range from CDT.

Cheers

go ask affan...he is happy man right now :top:

actually i did it at technichi. Halfway done. No diff from what you guys saw at our Grand TT. Decided not to proceed with technichi any further for several reasons which I won't share here publicly. :)

Will continue the ICE upgrading at a diff place later when got moolahs..

so affan66.. continue your project yet? i'm in a crossroad now.. went to simon he recommends i change the whole HU for my E39 but i dont want to lose the OBC function.. so i'm thinkin can i install a touch screen lcd monitor on the dashboard and hide the aftermarket HU elsewhere.. so meaning i'll keep the original HU look but i'll have a monitor on top of my air cond which i can control cause it's touch screen...hhmmm

project on hold la.... got another car to take care off. ICE from previous platform still in the storeroom waiting for buyer. Until then, no updates :)

I have changed the HU but the OBC function on the dash still remains, except for the clock.
Not so confident with having a monitor on top of the aircond for security reasons, if I were you.

where can i source this R40 plugpak? I hope somebody there can help..thanks

Thanks, but want to make it clear on myself coz it says ' R40 ipod adapter'
what i really want is an adapter to install Business CD player into my E39 pre 8/2000. I noticed the existing cable with round pins whilst the Business CD need flat pins..

sorry... me no good in ICE terms .

I have completed the conversion of my 1997 pre-FL E39's ICE. What I had before was an integrated IRIS display and casette player, and a CD changer that kept getting broken.

I bought a CD53 Single CD player (from E39 or X5 also can) and a MID display (BMW displays got 2 type - the simpler IRIS and the MID system which single cd requires). Of course you need the R40 Plugpak which you can get from europeanautosource. THey did not want to ship to Malaysia so i sent it to my friend in teh US and she brought it back when she came home.

Note that you can use the CD53 single CD player from the X5 but you cannot use the MID from the X5 without modifications. Physically the X5 MID fits but the connector has to be modified. The CD53 from the X5 works fine and is pretty much identical to the one in the E39.

Later I got the DICE Silverline Pro iPod dock from bavsound and junked the CD changer.

I have bought a wire harness from BMW (original retrofit part) that will allow Aux In in the car. The suggested setup is you connect the wire to a socket behind the head unit, runthe wire to the glovebox it and attach the end to the inside of the glovebox. So you would have a 3.5mm input (any mp3 player) in the glovebox.

But I'm going to install it in the middle of the dash, behind the cigarrete lighter socket (most probably where the cupholder is)Dont want wires running from the glovebox to my centre console where my iPod would be.

This retrofit kit is for later cars only, wont work on pre-2002 cars. Will DIY this week and post some photos of how it turns out.
Mine is a MkIV Sat Nav head unit.

Chief,

behind your sat/nav screen, is there a cassette player or a cd player?
