E39 Hydraulic Brake Hose

Guys,4 things:1) Has anyone replaced this item before shown in the following pic? 2) How much is it?3) Can this rubber hose be replaced with a steel hose instead?4) I'm also thinking of replacing all 4 wheels brake hoses to stainless steel braided ones. Anyone has done this before? Care to share the place to buy and cost?As you can see, this rubber hose seemed to be brittle and a part of it just fell off rendering it useless as hydraulic fluid leaks out from there. One can guess, no brake pressure builds up and foot pedal just slams down to the floor. Lucky me it wasn't an emergency brake at that time and i was gradually coming to a stop when i realize no pressure on foot pedal. Crawled back home this evening not to mention all roads were jammed up.

Try ProRS Steel-braided brake hose. You can find them in Rosedi Motorsport Sunway.
A set consist of 6 hoses, including that 2 hoses in your photo and 1 each for each wheel is about 300+ if I'm not mistaken. I've emailed them long time ago and they do carry E39 stock.

I changed them July last year, RM160 for both, labor RM40 include the brake fluid top up. Not sure ori or not, but done at Ipoh Garage.

Damn..mine's exactly the same...one of it just burst off. The other hose looks still intact but i'm changing that too. It's a ticking time bomb when E-brake.

Ok i just got mine replaced.

It was still intact when i pop the hood open this morning in my hse and brake fluid was in the middle. So decided to go buy the parts and take it to mech right away. Upon reaching the first traffic light, "Check brake fluid" text came on. Pulled over at the side of the road, open up everything once again, and the reservoir was totally empty. I carried brake fluid in my trunk so topped it up and headed to bavarian ss2. Bought the hoses for RM 44 each x 2 = RM 88 OEM Germany. They don't have original and that's the only one type they've been selling all along. Went to my friend's workshop (nearest) and paid RM 30 labour. Total damage RM 118 for the day....but our lives worth much much more than that..simply priceless...

This is the package. Fitted the new ones in already.

When the mech loosened the nut, this piece just splitted into 2.

Notice the other hose "looked ok" before removing but when removed, can see the crack oll over. ticking timebomb for this one.

those pipes r exposed to the exhaust.
tts why it gets brittle so fast.
try to shield them fr the exhaust.

RM350 for 4 pieces bro. not 6. Only available for fitting at all 4 wheel brakes.

The upper 2 hoses from the master pump, if you want, they can't custom it for you using steel braided hoses. But you gotta produce the original one so they can measure the exact length. That's a separate charge. They say can be done for RM90 each.
