i have been having this annoying rattling sound whenever the a/c is switched on from cold and the noise becomes gradually quiet after 1 minute.so this is what i did to get rid of it :
P2120175.jpg
the tensioner pulley assembly and damper removed
P2120174.jpg
where the parts above(tensioner pulley and damper) live
P2120172.jpg
the tensioner pulley assembly
P2120171.jpg
greased the bearing up with heavy duty bearing grease
P2120170.jpg
removed the ori oil and refilled with 10w30.pic with rubber cover off.buttoned everything up and rattling sound gone.smooth and silent ops when a/c buttn pressed.

compressor bearing or ac tensioner pulley

hi guys,i have 1 1999 BMW 328i sedan and resently my car has been making a terrible rattling sound with the air conditioner being on, and then when i turn the ac off the rattling sound goes away and the car works good

any ideas to what it can be? could it be the compressor bearing or ac tensioner pulley?
