My question is, does your E39 ever broken down on street that you need a tol-truck? In other words, is E39 reliable?

We're glad you decided to change your preference of the choice of car. Congratulations.

I have 10 year old E39 528i whaich I have been honoured to own for a number of years already. It has NEVER EVER let me down before. Not even once. And Im willing to put my life on the line for her. She has served me very very well indeed.

The rules are very simple. You take good care of her, she'll take good care of you. BMWs do not just break and leave you stranded. They break down gracefully. Keep to this simple rule and you'll never go wrong. Time's up = change parts.

What Lee, azwanb, Kev, funfer and the rest of the guys say is true. Take our advice and view points and its all your decision. Depends what you're looking for. I had the same dilemma as you when I wanted to purchase an E39. I can gladly tell you I have had no regrets whatsoever in purchasing my E39 528i. Age is just a number.

Cheers:)

Well said Adrian. The trick to maintaintaing an E39 is take good care of the electronics. They will in turn take care of the rest and you'll have lots of pleasant drives.

safri...VOLVO...no no...noo...noooo.....nooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! :D

guys,
I wonder if we are all "over passionate" (i know we should) on our UDMs.......actually if one is to post this in the Volvo forum, then we will be blown out of the water by the Volvo guys, yes? :eek:

I have driven the S60 T5 and I must say, good performance, handling and NVH. For that price, you can only get the entry level of 3 series.
Value for money???:confused:

I believe all cars are good if not why would the engineers & R&D bother to take years & $$$millions to come up with one? End of the day, it's what the consumers/drivers want.....which meets their needs and of course, pockets!

..get the E60. even better.!! you like new electronics gadget..?? then get it. Plus The new N54 torque comes in very early..250NM@ 2750rpm. and with max hp at 218@6500rpm .And you can't even check the engine oil level....I sure bet that a lot of ppl dun know that.

There's no dipstick!!!!!!

* cabut*

bro,

actually u can check the engine oil level on the E60.. u don't even need to open the front bonnet..
simply use the iDrive and choose the service option and u can check the status of all the major parts.. the screen will actually show u the engine oil level digitally.. so no worries.. there is no dipstick because there isn't need for one!! :D
