Hi....

Just swap engine form 320i to 325i..... So thinking of upgrading the brakes....hehez..
Are your current front brake disc vented or non-vent??? if they are ventilated then it shud be fine, provided all the components are in good working condition ie brake calipers, master cylinder, booster and brake hoses...

e36 m3 brake kit so expensive, maybe u can consult teejay for more info...

u are driving e36 right ???

ok just to share my experience...

you need to use back your e36 wheel knuckle for front & rear arm...

go buy one set of e46 front & rear brake caliper, disc, pad....

no modification needed.... direct swap...

Difference are both e46 front & rear brake disc diameter is bigger than e36.. brake efficiency increased....

Hope this help....

fabianyee - mine is current stock non vent - my brakes work well...but some time to fast braking not enough...

Kinaka - e46 front & rear brake caliper, disc, pad can fixed nicely? Wow...that good...but the disc pad and caliper are bigger ?
I heard that can fix a 330i brake disc and caliper too...it that true?

Cheerz...

Hi guys...many thanks for your reply...

Hi....calling Teejay.....where are you? can you advice on the change of M's 3 brake ??

you will need everything from the front of an m3

spindles, rotors, carriers, calipers, pads, even the absorbers aligment mounting to spindle between e36 and m3 are different

you can go the e46 330i or e46 328i upgrade, straight fit, no need to change spindles

but another rpoblem will be your ABS system.....
i have no exp off hand, but in my e30 the ABS kicks in damn fast, so i normally regulate my braking

my advise seriously is this
1. get braided hoses all round
2. do a complete change of caliper piston rebuild eg the rubber seals
3. change to higher grade pads
4. after all of the above, use a higher boiling point brake fluid
5. and yes, all round ventilated disc does help

to scare you further more

e36 m3 brake pads cost rm450 a piece, these are motosport ones, thise you have seen my car will tell you my rear pads has 4 times more dust than my fronts
new rotors cost you abt rm1200 each
brake repair kit for 1 side rm250 each - becoz the rubber inside is strengthen and damn big

all the best and wish you luck on your quest....

e46 until 328 model yes it can fit only e36 wheel knuckle/ rear arm...

as for 330i i can;t comfirm.... if the brake caliper bolt mounting same size then no problem.. but minimun u need to use 16 or 17 " sport rim if not mistaken...

thanks

Try the 4 pot Brembo calipers and 320mm disc that Racing Dynamics sells for the E36. I had them before and braking was a dream. Much better than the original M3 brakes. Can be used with the original servos. Used to cost about RM6800 back in 1996. Not sure about cost nowadays but it is definately a recommended BUY...

listen to him.. i did.. hehe

yes...try what teejay recommended...work out your existing brakes.
You dont need big brakes or upgraded ones unless you are putting down significantly more hp, or if you are tracking your car.
