e36 Engine Leak Advise

My e36/320/6 has an engine leak, I have replaced the gasket but it still leaks the workshop claimed that it is my rocker engine cover is warp and needs replacement, can this happen and if so how much would a used engine cover cost?

did they put sealant when installing the valve cover gasket?

Hi!
My Tips....Why not... you try to check the Engine Breather Valve. If the device clog...the engine itself would build more pressure to the oil sump, it may cause the engine oil start to blow out from your engine by the extra pressure.

Yes seal were done, ok will check the breather thingy can elaborate and any part no? The leak is visible at engine end towards the windscreen!

hi..possibility leak from valve cover gasket..my own experienced.do not apply sealant.(the gasket already got the trench line, no point to apply sealant (closed the trench chamber).possibility wrong=100%.but it's works..

Just replaced the rocker engine cover as advised by the mech, the gasket was replaced earlier and there was no seal were put on the gasket as advised.

Let's see the next few days if the leak persist.

Yes the rocker cover can warp, mine did - E34 320k KM on the clock.
First my mech sent it for skimming - cost RM.80, ok for a few months..
2nd time around changed used one - cost RM.50

Also look out for the valve cover nut seals, i think its 15 pieces

Thanks mate, I have replaced the seals on the nut cover as well. I too got a used rocker cover but the mech charged me RM330 for it! Will have to monitor whether the leak still persist!

Now i am suspecting my fan tensioner or maybe bearing has signs of wear due to slight noise. Sigh it's endless!
