Lately, when I opened my car using the remote control, the driver side door knob didn't seem to pop up (had no choice but to manually pull it up). There are also times when I switched off the engine, all the other 3 door knobs popped up but not the driver side's. Sometimes, cannot even pull it up manually (as though it's stucked).Could this be the central locking module? (the one they called it "the gun" the "pistol")?? I understand from someone that the central locking gun is very costly. Anyone solved this problem before? Your input please.Cheers

i had similar issues before. Likely cause is low battery. Changed to new battery and never had any problems again.

Someone told me it could also be the central locking module but since it doesn't happen everytime, it was tough to pinpoint the real issue. My battery was already getting old (more than 3 years, MF batt), so I just changed it.

Low battery can cause that? Hmm...something new to me but it makes sense probably. I dont know what is the age of my car battery but it has been 1 yr 2 months since I got this car from the previous owner....the battery needs to be changed too I guess.

Well, this happened months ago, then it was ok then now it comes back....sigh.
Thanks for the tip Affan, will see how it goes :)

Had almost similar problem once . My mech open & check the alarm control box , check for current leaks , etc but found nothing . At last it was traced to a loose / worn out round rubber thingy contact ( rear door ) that senses if the door is close shut . the good thing is it's the part is compatible with proton . RM5 per piece ...phew !!!

Good luck !

Ok, will ask the workshop the next time I send the car for servicing :) thanks

Lubricate the plunger and the linkage between the plunger and the door handle. At the same time check the linkage installation. If electrical problem, you will have no problem pulling it up manually. There must be some mechanical problem. I believe it is the linkages. Maybe some plastic washer already broke. Good luck

Actually, the actuator is kaput ! Get it replaced and should solve the problem.

Any idea where to get the actuator? How much is it?
Thanks

you can purchase at any accesory shop (but make sure of the same model), or go bmw spare par shop, or sometimes at kedai potong..

yes, actuator is the main culprit. Check that out.

Mine, is the central locking unit. When engage alarm, the door doesn't lock but when dis-engage the alarm, the door unlock.

So, will bring to my accessory shop to change that. We can use the japanese type of unit which is smaller and more efficient.

:).

Done that for my E30 b4.

Bro Elwine, where is your shop?? Maybe will drop by your place 1 day. Anyway, my central locking seems to be ok back nowadays. What seems to be the problem???

well, the actuator can be acting up. But it's ok now, just leave it till it's not working then. :) Sure, you can find me in amcorp. can bring you to my accessory shop.
