E36 318 Auto - power

I test drove friend's 96 318 today.His car is stock.At gear 1 (not D), the car barely move. The power is worse than a Wira 1.3.Is this normal ?Or I being spoiled ?

How often the owner do the regular maintenance is the key point..

something must be wrong with the engine or transmission...

Although M43 got only 8 valve but the smallest still bigger than the biggest jap or proton megavalve. For me I dun feel much different wt my 528 for low end torque & speed. Higher speed dun compare 4 pot wt 6 pots lar.

Agree, I have not tested the 318i Auto yet but the stock 316i Manual (M43B16 engine with only K&N drop-in filter) no problem hitting 195km/hour on NS Highway.

This can be short circuit...., cannot be detect by OBD2 diags..
maybe from the alarm?...??
try to check the battery current drain rate..
