E36 316i coupe upgrade to M50?

I just got my car a few days back and can say it is in immaculate condition. Will take a few pictures, and post it up when I get it back from my workshop. Doing the normal servicing and some other stuff...It has full m3 bodykit original, staggered m3 17" original rims from Germany, redone black leather seats with red threading, mtech steering, supersprint exhaust, bilstein shocks, just to name a few.Now the only thing is that i haven't had enough time since i got it to really test drive it. So i dont really know if the power would be enough but lets say, if the power isn't enough, how much would it be to do a upgrade to at least a m50b25/tu? Preferbly it be a manual but an auto would be alright i guess...Mine is currently a m43b16, the slowest and lousiest of the e36 class engines... ALso, with such an upgrade of more than 25%, would there be a problem or boleh-land can do it?Any help would be really appreciated.

Should be a tad underpowered with that engine...

congrats on your ownership of a BMW. I saw many upgrade their E36 to M50 2.5cc engine with manual tranny. Check out http://www.bimmersclub.com/ Many superb E36 owners are there. Good luck

Sorry I ain't of much help cos I've never done an engine transplant before. Currently pootling around in an ancient E32. :4:

Umm, rare, not sure.... although haven't seen much of them around.. I just wish it was a 325 manual from the start.. i think i will cry if my car is ripped apart when doing the transplant.. lol...

munkeong, so if i go b20 first, that would be alright cause its a 25% increase, then if i want to change to b25 or b28 or even b32, is that possible?

yeh can be done , but that 25% would not be that great after sometime as you'll need more power ...

all i can see is the turbo route to acheive the 25% for the 4 potter .... try talking to Albundy as he's been into this route once upon a time with his super duper e36

first foremost all i could say is enjoy ya m43 first ... come join us for some of the drives and have a chat or perhaps get a feel of it by hopping into an m50 car before you embark this m50 journey ...if money is not an issue than i shall say go for it ... once you've embarked there is no U-turn ...

do you have a start off budget on mind ??

umm.. ?? Can? Boleh-land can do pretty much anything if you have the correct cables? Is that your answer? Must you also have very deep pockets for this type of conversion?

of course.. i would love to join you guys.. actually i was suppose to go for the gathering at borneo.. but was too pissed off with my workshop cause they haven't finished with my car.. might go pick it up today only.. i would enjoy my m43 for the time being.. i have sat in a m50b25 coupe which was selling for around 44k sometime last year end, i test drove it and it was good but the interior was not too inviting and it was a left hand drive convert...

budget? umm.. would 10k be enough?
