e34 prop shaft center support bearing

had the center support bearing (csb) replaced last week.csb is rm83 at bav otto PJ.took 6 hours all in.paid rm10 to press csb onto prop shaft.the exhaust (from header) and heat shield needs removal.so,i need your thoughts as to why we need to pre-load the csb after fitting the prop shaft to the car. :dunno:

in my case,a visual inspection(with the exhaust heat shield removed)revealed a partially torn csb rubber.
